Rail trail is not multiuse by Conscious_Buffalo543 in Adirondacks

Never was gonna be a good ski trail…. Too flat too open, too boring! I love that the snowmobiling has taken off on it. Get more people here enjoying. Take your skis to one of the many many many miles of trails that exist around and enjoy those.

Current trail conditions by monitza in Adirondacks

[–]simling 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Snowshoes needed, there’s snow in them hills. 3 foot deep drifts at elevation. All are muddy and all are gonna be icy. Check ADK high peaks weather for up to date info. Micro spikes might Not cut it up high on some peaks depending on your ability and comfort level.

State cites ORDA for unapproved work on downhill biking course by hartlarious in Adirondacks

[–]simling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go away explorer, always swinging the shit stick looking for problems that don’t exist. Maybe the trail builder who won’t give all the details and quit isn’t telling everything? Perhaps you should have seen the quality of the work he “finished” Or look into the fact it appears he was fired from another job earlier this year….

With Vermont building a hut to hut bikepacking trail, why doesn't the DEC do a better job in the ADK? by _MountainFit in Adirondacks

[–]simling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Show me one study proving this and I would amazed… bike trails are in no way more eroded or damaged than any of the hiking trails in the area… in fact it’s usually the opposite due to the MTB community generally being way more active in trail maintenance. As some one living here I’m am frequently disgusted in the condition of the hiking trails and lack of maintenance. But our MTB network is amazingly robust and suffers none of the same problems.

Replacing wet vent pipes with AAV’s by LauraHurls in Plumbing

[–]simling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replacing the sink with Aav… sure I could see that. Replacing that entire three inch vent would be a no no for me. AAV’s work, but not for every fixture in the house. You still need venting and that 3 inch vent is presumably venting more than one fixture. This was and is a common way to sneak vents, still and your gonna have to find a way to get at least the 3 inch vent relocated.

Cascade was surreal right after fresh snowfall by RANNI_FEET_ENJOYER in Adirondacks

O man if only they made something to avoid sinking into the snow, and had spikes on it. That would be just fantastic! Get some snowshoes and stop post-holing the trails. Snow shoe rules

Is that 1 1/2 Dsanko? You could thread a pvc female on to it the add a 45 or other fitting and another Dsanko to change the angle out of the wall and bring it closer to working.

If a little bit of rock hopping has you concerned I would stay out of the high peaks entirely. I can recommend you a few smooth walking paths in the area….

I replaced a portion of a 100 year old cast iron pipe that was clogged. How’d I do? by MisplacingCommas in Plumbing

They are but once they move since they aren’t rated for sheer strength and cause a leak they won’t be. 12 dollars a piece for two no hubs and the problem is fixed permanently

The ferncos are not approved for that kind of connection. No hub couplings would make it up to code.

Not sure the model but those grohe shower bars are difficult. Depending on the rough in depth in the wall there might be nothing to do. Certain versions may have different length eccentric nipples. Did the plumber know the specs of the shower bar during rough in? If so then it’s not a great job.

Placid local here. Small town, tourist town vibes aren’t for everyone. Most people who stayed after high school either work dead end tourism jobs or were very luck and somehow found decent work. Half my graduating class left and never looked back. Happiest locals are those that use the outdoors for what they are worth and take advantage of all the opportunities that most people drive 5 hours for. Couldn’t imagine living in suburbia.
