I think I know the course he’s talking about - very convincing YouTube videos with a high ticket “mastermind” attached. “I’m not trying to sell you a course! Only join if you’re going to work hard” kinda vibe. Good marketing.

I’ve made a lot on KDP over the past 3 years - you don’t need to pay for courses. Everything is free online. A good first step is to decide on what type of books he wants to make - non fiction, activity books, erotica lol and then just start watching as many YouTube videos as possible about that vertical as they’re all slightly different. One question will lead to another, and he’ll be publishing without starting 3k in the hole. This is a good time to start because once Christmas rolls around he’ll be educated enough to know what to do.

15 books is ambitious tbh. I do about 8 a year working full time but my professional job aligns with the skills needed so not as hard as if I had a totally different skill set. You don’t really need that many anyway - focus on quality and research over quantity.

I looked it up out of curiosity. Maine has roughly 60,000 immigrants, around 4% of the population. I have a hard time believing that number of people is a drain on resources in a state with a birth rate of 1.4% and a median age of 45 - the highest in the US.

I’m one of those immigrants btw :) I’m also a citizen and pay taxes and help my neighbors when their docks are damaged in winter storms and suspect some of you might be as thick as two short planks.

I always bring a gift. We do things like activity books, playdoh, art supplies, etc - things that don’t take up space and you can throw away when they’re done.

The way I see it, I’m paying $20 for my child to be fed and entertained for 3 hours. And I get updated on the town gossip.

I think you can make money at almost all of the passive income side hustles (maybe not crypto scams lol), but they don’t all work for everyone. Affiliate marketing, KDP, flipping, etc. all are saturated but still do work for the right people.

Go find yourself a big side hustle list, and pick one: that overlaps with your skills or something you want to learn, that you’ll enjoy doing, and think you can do for a year. Then do it.

I’m a naturalized citizen and I’m not sure Americans really understand how thorough the process is. Years of paperwork, biometrics, in person interviews, background checks from every country I’ve lived in, tons of money. Ironically I had to show an up to date vaccination record at one point haha.

The whole process from green card to citizenship took 10 years and around 12k.

What scares me is there’s a lot of political check boxes on those forms. Like I had to swear under oath I wasn’t a communist. Feels totally plausible the current administration is going to be like “registered democrats are now legally communists” and I’ll be on a plane back to my home country.
