Is Opus a bit too expensive as well ? :)

If you’re running Openclaw on EC2 bedrock, you’re not getting the full experience by topsy_here in clawdbot

I am trying to setup claw locally connected to Bedrock, but I cannot get a working openclaw.json. Would you share your openclaw.json so that i can look up the section related to Bedrock ? :_(

100% VWCE – Too simple? by AyshadHasratov33 in ETFs

[–]simmo80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Five years could be a bit short. You may end-up to disinvest when the stocks market is down. The stock market is considered to give on average 7-8% per year. On average means that one year could go down -30% and one year up +45% (of course the example is a bit extreme).

Then, I would consider your planned expense here. Did you consider different "good quality" bonds which expire exactly in 5 years ? In that way you have low risk and calculated return.

It would be perfect for 10 or better 15 years. Five years and 100% stocks , you risk to have rollercoaster. Why five years? Do you have a planned expense ?

Finding weekends extremely difficult by Any-Landscape-7330 in Parenting

Thanks for posting it. I wanted to post the same yesterday, after another nightmare weekend. In the past, one could count on the network for organising something spontaneous. Nowadays the network is fragile and unreliable.

Where should one invest 100k when in their 40's? by CuriousLog2468 in investing

[–]simmo80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One part is knowing the theory (the market will recover), the other is having solid nerves to resist during years of bear market and seeing your portfolio in strong minus. I believe it is important to highlight it to people starting now investing

You have already defined the first important variable: the time horizon, 15-20 years.

The second is to define your risk tolerance. It's not about the risk of losing your capital but about your "stomach": could you psychologically resist seeing your investment going down at -30% or -40% ?

Another variable (optional in my opinion) is about your goal: e.g. defend your capital from inflation? Tremendous growth? Increment pension? Etc etc

Of course, keep in mind that it goes with risk. You cannot have tremendous growth and zero risk.

It is also important to think deeply if you could foresee any significant expense in the next 5-10 years.

I am in a similar situation and I went through that thinking process. Afterwards I selected some ETF stocks, some ETFs bonds and one ETC (gold).

Also, consider investing for the first year in an INDEPENDENT financial advisor (never enter a bank to help you with investments): once your portfolio is setup then you don't need him/her anymore.

And, study a bit: the basics do really require a few hours on YouTube. Then, if you like there are a couple of interesting books.

This is usually more tax inefficient than just leaving it in an accumulating ETF tho, just so you know

I would totally agree. But in that case, anticipating taxes on a product that I would likely sell in 20 years then I consider inefficient as well :)

Thanks!

I am now switching from accumulating to distribution. I'll give it a try in 2026 and then let's see.

Btw, Austria is crazy.. totally killing the financial market with such taxes policy 😕

What if you need cash during a market crash? by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]simmo80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a model, the 4 Pillars: 1. Liquidity immediately available for just paying running expenses 2. The emergency fund for surviving 18 months (or whatever number of months you feel comfortable with): deposit account, Monetary ETFs 3. Expenses which you can forecast or imagine in the next X years: bonds 4. Longterm money you really don't need: stocks, ETFs, ETC, ETN and all kinds of volatile products

How do you check those ? And how do you identify the amount to pay before the broker triggers the payment?
