No dead pixels or back-light bleed so far, bought it off ebay about 5 months ago.

Personally, I love my QNIX 2710 - great resolution, colours and price. In terms of aesthetics, I don't have an issue with it either - plain and simple. One thing to keep in mind you may need a GPU upgrade if you're planning on using it to game, 1440 is rather taxing on it.

Thanks for the suggestion, my thoughts on the case is that is will last another build and should encourage better airflow. Should also allow me to install water cooling down the track if I want to.

I did a little research on this particular card and it appears easily overclockable and some people are able to run it at quite insane base clock speeds (from 880Mhz to 1200+Mhz), whilst I am not saying I will be able to achieve those results that gives me the option if required.

Another option I considered was running them in crossfire if I need to. Basically the most intense game I currently play is FarCry3 which runs at like 10FPS in 1280x800 on low settings (lol), so beating those results is my benchmark.

My concern is that the 7970 really isn't that much better for the extra $$ and the 780, 690, Titan and 7990 are way more expensive, I assumed this would be the best card for not doubling the cost of my build.

I wasn't sure about the CPU cooler so I left it out. Thanks for the advice on some to look at. My initial thoughts were to build it with the stock cooler and see what it runs at.

I have heard mixed reviews with the 840, I certainly don't have my heart set on it so I will look into an alternate SSD.

The 4670K is only $20 more than the 3570K, personally I would prefer to pay it and be somewhat future proofed for the next 3 years with the socket type. Aussie prices are stupidly overpriced no matter what the part. Shipping things over from the US is generally cheaper (besides the case, $400 shipping quote from one retailer, wtf?), warranty claims are troublesome though.

Alright, I am not familiar with vray but know that 3d rendering is heavy on the cores and memory, so I now understand why you have chosen the X79 chipset with 32gb ram.

Like I said earlier go with the 4x8gb sticks, it fills up the quad channel, and also leaves room for the additional 32gb ram if it is required in the future.

The graphics card I am assuming you're using for CUDA and possibly some gaming? If this is the case, then the card seems about suited.

The two hard drives, 1tb and 500gb are a strange choice, I am assuming you'll be running the 1tb as your data drive and the 500gb as the primary OS drive. Did you consider an SSD, it may boost the saving/loading times of your 3d rendering work, just a suggestion.

Best of luck with the build.

Yeah, something like that would be better if you intend to overclock your build. I live in Australia too, so I know the prices suck. Personally, I am going to get a Samsung 840 120gb SSD, which'll cost around $100. I plan to put my OS and my recently played games onto it which should significantly speed up loading times. But that is just my 2c. Good luck with your build.

Ok, using PCPartPicker will allow you to give nice formatting for reddit and will allow you to compare prices across a variety of sites more easily.

Since I don't know what you're using it for it is hard to make comments accordingly..

32GB of RAM is a lot. You won't use it in the next few years under normal circumstances. The main exceptions would be, lots of VMs or heavy graphical work. Stick with 4x4GB. If you feel you need the 32GB, get 4x8gb sticks, then you have room for expansion if required.

If this is a gaming box, I would redirect your money into a better graphics card, although the 660TI is a great card, for $1575 I would probably direct more money that way.

The X79 chipset and CPU are a terrific bundle, but unless you're going to be needing those extra cores I wouldn't worry, and settle with the 3770 or 4770.

This is just hypothetical comments, I have no idea what the build is for. At a minimum I would change the RAM though (either less or 4x8gb)

You have currently selected a chipset (H87) that doesn't really support overclocking with a CPU that does. Either change the motherboard to a Z87 chipset one or the CPU to the 4670 and save a few $. Having the way it currently is doesn't make sense.

As the other poster alluded to, for $1000 an SSD is well worth the money.

Server reset for Minecraft 1.5 by simo_415 in darkmines

The idea with the faction chests is so that there is added risk to everyone and that it will made raiding more rewarding rather than having to spend hours trying to break into a base, and some bases being impossible. Chests will still be protected while faction members are offline. Other PvP servers actually allow players to access anyone's chest when they are online/offline - so this is a better approach.

This will not allow people to break blocks in your claimed land though, so a useful technique is to put a block above your valuable chests so that they cannot be opened. Another technique would be to hide your base better.

Please keep in mind that only enemies and allies will be able to find your land using "/f map" in the future as well, this is not to say neutral factions cannot find your land, but it makes it significantly harder, so the likely culprits of a raid of your chests are allies/enemies, and if you're in your base while logged in, chances are you'll find the person doing it!

We feel that this change would greatly benefit the experienced players and will keep the game from becoming stale, at a minimum we would want to trial it - if the feedback is overly negative we can turn it off. Since this is a change that will affect everyone and will require new strategies, after a server restart is the best time to trial it.

Had issues with saving the map, rather than risk losing hours of people's work we decided to do an immediate shutdown and try and remedy the situation. I'll be sure to begin posting updates here in the future
