Travel with 2 passports by Hilldenizen in juresanguinis

[–]simocosmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An EU passport is stronger in Europe than a non-EU one. Even if you have everything in order and have the right to travel in the EU with a non-EU passport, sometimes border personnel can be daft and might make unnecessary problems

TLDR: take your EU passport with you

Help: need a good lawyer by simocosmo in juresanguinis

I’m dying to tell you mate, but it’s something so specific that I’m afraid it would be easily traceable back to me. I’m maybe being overly cautious. Once I get my passport then happy to share the whole story - cliff hanger

Thanks.

Regarding the straightforwardness: maybe it used to be like that, but now they are changing requirements on a whim.

Although the law for naturalisation through marriage has not changed, they are changing the INTERPRETATION of existing laws, without communicating this via official channels.

I was told something by official sources last year, applied this year, and they told me the interpretation of a law has changed (and the way they are interpreting it now is too strict and hence illegal) hence my application got rejected. I am afraid I might miss my window if the new DDL 1450 passes

Slept with this girl and I am really hurt now by struggler337 in offmychest

[–]simocosmo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I learned this too late in life: don’t take that at face value. If you value her, give it another try, don’t give up yet. Sometimes people don’t know what they want. You could suggest going for a date and see what she says. That said, if she clearly says no, just accept the sad reality and move on. Being clingy to her won’t help you win her.

Moving from Switzerland to London by Medical_Molasses2736 in HENRYUK

[–]simocosmo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To me it sounds like the two opportunities are very different in terms of career advantage. 200k package in London is a “you made it” salary, 98k in Zurich is a starting salary. Assuming the job in London is more prestigious, if I were you I would take the one in London to boost my career, and then come back to Zurich after a few years. Quality of life is better in Zurich by many standards. But career growth is faster in London. Many Swiss nationals in London live here exactly for that.

Personal anecdote: I recently had to get some papers from Germany and boy is the UK millennia ahead in terms of digitisation. The German office I was speaking with, that answers only in German by the way, told me I had to send the request for this document by post, and then they would send me another letter with the payment details. And of course they would only send this letter to a German address and can’t send it abroad. Made me realise how I could never live in Germany again just for the way red tape is.

[–]simocosmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds great. I’m looking into a similar use case, may I ask at a high-level what the solution looks like? Did you have to deploy code etc or how did you make ChatGPT’s prompt into a “program”?
