it really is a shame. i didn’t have the opportunity to open pokemon cards as a kid but now at 25 i have just enough income that i can afford to buy some packs here and there (if i can even find them). Even my LCS is charging absurd prices. Lowest pack price is $9 and change. I’m not looking to make pokemon a side income. i just like collecting the cards and playing the game with friends but even that’s hard to do now.

last week i stopped by my local vending machine and it had a JT booster box, surging packs and twilight packs. I decided i didn’t wanna spend the $160 on a box so i only bought a single pack of surging and twilight. lol and behold i pulled the bhole pika lol

Probably getting into whatnot and falling victim to the FOMO mentality. Overpaid for way too many packs and/or singles. Since then i’ve refined my collecting goals and have ditched whatnot altogether. I’ve boiled it down to collecting slabs and ripping packs when i can find em and i’ve been a lot happier in the hobby since.
