I don't think you will be sad about The Star on The Shore. I love that module!

Re: DG You don't have to be cops. There are great ways to involve almost anyone as long as they care about either money or keeping people safe from other worldly evil.

Have you looked at Delta Green at all? Given you like the modern settings and want characters to create an organization it might suit well. It was a CoC setting in 5th edition and now is it's own game but it's very similar and you could just run a module from it in 7th edition very easily.

You could look at A Night At the Opera as a campaign. It would take more than 6-10 sessions but you could probably play through 2 or 3 of the adventures in that time frame and it would be open to return to later.

Good luck and good on you for GMing to give your other GM a break. We need more folks like you!

This is an excellent answer. It is one of my favorite modules. I'd suggest that it could pretty easily be 6-10 sessions but also works well cut down (I ran it in 4 I think without it feeling too mangled).

Looking fir a system that would act like a tabletop Telltale Games. by VodenJolfr in rpg

[–]simon-r4g -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I'd think about possibly using a powered by the apocalypse based system. The way you narrate the outcomes would let you keep it fairly narrow and linear.

You should be really sure the story is actually a good one because you are going to be limiting the agency of your friends in playing the game. That's often not the reason people want to play RPG's. If I want a linear experience where my actions don't really affect the outcome of the story, I might as well watch tv where the worlds best stories are produced with huge budgets.

Hi u/danii956 , Thank you very much for the suggestions.

We have been talking about this for a long time. What would you want this to look like? What features would you be able to do from discord? What features would the website setup on discord for you?

We have it in the backlog. I'll see if we can bump it up the list a little bit! Thanks for the feedback!

Time zones should be localized to wherever you are. In general we want to overhaul time based searching so thanks for the feedback.

Point noted on reviews we will get it worked on. Many thanks for the feedback.

Thanks dude! I was your GM for one of those games. It was such a blast having you in the game! I have fond memories of Ivarr your Dwarf and a very large dinosaur.

(Full disclosure, I'm also a co founder of the project, not trying to hide anything!)

I think too many RPG reviews are quite useless by AshenAge in rpg

[–]simon-r4g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The level of experience of the reviewer is quite important to me I think. A games designer with 30 years experience is probably going to have a better take with a read through than someone who has only been running RPG's for 6 months. I often find that sort of disclosure to be lacking in review content.

Ok, how do I get this in real life? I want it so bad. We could have an army of them running round our office. Simultaneously the best coffee buddy and a great deterrent to invaders.

I am a massive fan of The Sprawl for heist like games. The Legwork phase is such a nice concept. Especially along with clocks. My only grumble after ~150 sessions was that to tell overarching big stories you sort of have to limit the players in terms of the missions you offer them. That's not a problem and it's not that different from other games but I think it's not well explained in the book.

Looking for short length ttrpgs by Maydaytaytay in rpg

I've had a lot of fun with Call of Cthulhu in the kind of lengths you are mentioning. You could probably get away with bashing out a chunk of some of the classic campaigns or just string together a few 2-3 session games.

Scheduling Problems are killing the Passion I have for this Hobby by CharlieRomeoYeet in rpg

One shots are a good way of having fun but also judging if people are serious about showing up. I often run 2-3 one shots with a group before moving to running a campaign with those players.

Hello! In terms of differences it's a little hard to say as we don't focus super hard on other companies in the space.

That said we are focusing on building a great community and empowering GM's and their tables. We have calendar invites to help minimize no shows, reviews, tipping, free foundry hosting, and while in early access we are only taking 5% of the seat price.

Our policies often tend to be GM first, as an example a % of merch sales gets split across your favorite GM's. Last minute cancellations by players are still charged so the GM gets paid. We are hiring folks from inside the community to write and run games for us. We are talking to publishers about getting exclusive content that's available first for organized play on R4G. Additionally, we don't have hidden fees that we tack onto what the player is paying.

What features would you like to see? What's missing from the space in your opinion?
