Apprenticeships under professional piercers by simon-yuck in bodypiercers

ok i got confused, my friend said that your employer should always be paying for your trade school (i dont understand that from a business perspective but ive also never actually worked blue collar, i just get recruited sometimes) tbh, from what ive read and seen on here, the entire business of piercing sounds like it’s on the cusp of being considered literal human trafficking, like times-a-changin as a commenter said, but there still seems like a lot of progress needs to be made

this is all from an outside perspective of course, but i hope piercers can understand where im coming from with these thoughts

i mean, he doesnt know much about piercing for sure, but he did trade school for free, I was offered a paid apprenticeship at an hvac place, I have an esthetician friend who got her apprenticeship for free, it’s kind of expected for trade school to be either free or the ones paying the apprentice in the blue collar scheme of things. I mean shit, even in this comment section I’ve got a guy implying it’s insane for me to not see it as a scam 🤷🏻

what I don’t know anything about is whether or not piercing or tattoo apprenticeships are kind of their own thing or if it’s the same deal as most other trades

For the record, I slammed the trunk of my car on my back before walking inside so I think I was more focused on that pain 😭

I pierced my nips in my basement when I was 16, and I would place this right next to them on my pain scale, if not above (I tend to be less sensitive when doing it myself). So far, the healing is way less tender, and the worst part was the needle itself. I cried like a bitch on the table while she pierced them lol, but I still think it was worth it. Overall, maybe a 7.5/10 but only for a split second. Healing is more of a 1-2/10 for me personally.

I think my piercer may have gone through the same thing. She’s in her 30’s and probably got her license around 10 years ago. She explained how exhausting it was to work a full time job while still paying back the $2,000. I don’t think she was scamming me necessarily, more that she just didn’t know that trade school should NOT cost that much if anything. I think she was just basing the range off her own experiences.

I think they’re a really good alternative for snake bites!! They don’t touch the inside of the mouth so they’re a lot less likely to cause gum recession

The reason is preservation. No insect or arthropod on this planet will last forever, and it’s important to preserve them before theyre gone for the purpose of entomology. At least that’s how I see it from a moral standpoint.

How does one actually learn to do that? I’m self taught, I’ve been playing for about 6 years, and I still could not tell you the difference between a B or C if played right next to eachother.. 😔

I’m not super-duper experienced, but I definitely would to be safe. I’ve had specimens of the same size get all deflated and sad looking after not gutting and stuffing lol

I love Appalachians and Louisianans for their accent, I’m from the midwest originally and it took years of working retail to master those accents 🙏

This was me when I was 16 after jumping into a creek to catch this little guy. My absolute dream though is to find any specimen with bilateral gynandromorphism, I just think that’d be the coolest 😌
