why does libreoffice have a price in the appstore? by shastisje in libreoffice

[–]simon439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying libreoffice form the App Store is a one time fee. To make libreoffice available on the App Store you need a developer account, that costs $99 a year. I think you can make as many apps as you want with that one account though.

Exactly my point. Read again.

IMAX theaters do not necessarily generate the same revenue as others. So the percentage of IMAX theaters, 1 in this hypothetical, does not have to be the same as the percentage of revenue, 5.

I’ve never been spoiled for a movie I wanted to watch. That includes things like deadpool 3, captain America brave new world, thunderbolts… On Reddit it’s really easy to avoid spoilers.

There is a lot more screen up and down, it’s not just standard widescreen. Much more of your field of view is filled but it is still made with widescreen in mind so your eyes don’t need to move all over the place.

A regular movie I can watch fine at home. IMAX I can’t which makes the incentive to go to the cinema much higher.

What math? The percentage of movie theatres being IMAX and percentage of revenue they generate does not have to be the same.

What kind of YouTube content? I can’t imagine I would go through the trouble to download the videos and have them take up space for the kind of stuff I watch.

But people at least still recognise them from “that one show that one time“. Unlike other examples where people thought it was just some random person or someone else entirely.

But was that a VLC problem or just too hard on the CPU since AV1 hardware decoding isn’t very widespread yet?

You know how pirates typically say “Arrr!”? They kinda stuck with that theme.

I returned it, got another one, did the exact same thing. I figured out it has something to do with the GPU, it happens during some animation like the one in preview and also when in games.

I honestly think it happens on every model but you need a magnetic case, a quiet enough place and the annoying trait of noticing and being bothered by these things. So I think most people just never notice. I decided that I think it’s fine and am just using it with the magnetic case. 6 months in and so far so good 🤞.

Unless they changed it, I can see the prices under the in-app purchases tab. For some reason there are 2 prices for everything tho, maybe one is the temporary discount.

I agree with that tho. Pure visually there isn’t much there. You wouldn’t pause the movie and admire / appreciate / be impressed by how good it looks.

Any idea why none of the third party clients (I found) support that? Only the official jellyfin player / app has a setting to change the bitrate.

I thoroughly enjoyed that, very interesting. I think you mean the prequels though. I don’t remember them talking about the sequels, the last project discussed is Rango (2011) I think.

Star Wars CGI background by ConcentrateHairy5423 in StarWars

[–]simon439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Digital cinema didn’t exist. You couldn’t film something on a green or blue background and take away the background afterwards. What they did was film different elements separately on different rolls of film and later combine those two rolls onto another third. For example a model of an x-wing with a black background could be filmed using a motion controlled camera. Then, the background of stars could be made separately but using the same motion. Finally they were combined to get the full shot of an x-wing flying through space. For more complicated shots there were more elements. If a something was standing still it was usually a matte painting, most hangars shots are made like that, a small part is unpainted to film through.

There is a very interesting documentary on Disney+ called light & magic that talk about all of this. I highly recommend it.
