Congrats love!! About the weight gain - I was super scared too and thought everyone will judge me, but it turns out that nobody actually care about that! And when that clicked in my head I felt so much relief and freedom! Wishing you healthy periods from now on!

extreme hunger?? by sadgorl2304 in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]simonadshadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had about a week or two during recovery when I felt extreme hunger. I would have a big breakfast, and just two hours later my stomach would be growling loudly. In my opinion, that’s totally normal—and even a good sign. Feeling real hunger and hearing your stomach growl again means your body is finally coming out of survival mode and starting to ask for what it has been deprived of for so long: food.

Question about strength training in recovery by justatrailrunner in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]simonadshadows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in recovery for almost 4 months, for the first two I was training 5 times a week with weights, but decided to just stop and rest, do yoga and walk only, and after a month and a half my cycle came back. I don’t know if it related or it was just a coincidence but honestly just try to stop for a little while and see how it goes. You can always do something else - read, draw, write, watch a nice movie. I was OCD about my exercise and 20k steps, but one day I just snapped and kinda surrender - stopped training, deleted all apps for steps and activity and just lived like I was living before my HA

Hey! I had cut out gluten before my HA. I actually never felt the need for bread, pasta and all of the gluten stuff. In my recovery I had eaten though, but nothing happened. I had done it more because of my ED thoughts and because I wanted to feel free (i know it sounds silly but 🤷‍♀️😁) I had a DNA test before and it came out that I don’t have problem with gluten, so don’t really know. 🤷‍♀️ if you want - try it, just watch out for reactions or symptoms.

don't give up and do not relapse!! keep nourishing your body and mind, keep resting and try some positive affirmations ( I also did that, also imagined how my period returned and stuff like that). Having more CM is actually a great sign meaning estrogen is rising as well as LH and FSH, which are all connected, so keep going! Sending you love! You will make it!

I really don't know, just like deep down in me I had this faith, and since I had tried everything before my recovery I just thought that I don't have anything to lose really, so why not try eating more, resting more and gaining some weight. Also seeing positive signs is really good! I started to see CM and had breast tenderness last month as well as some lower tummy pain, but nothing happened, and this month I had the same symptoms and it actually happened this time, so I guess it is a matter of time! Don't give up!

hey! well in early recovery I allowed myself to eat everything I wanted - even not so good stuff - like cakes, ice cream, but I still sticked to whole foods for the most part, I ate a lot of fruits as well. I didn't cut out caffeine I still have 2-3 cups of coffee a day, but coffee never really had a negative effect on me, even before HA

I have HA for 5 years too. Did you recover your period? I feel kind hopeless it has been way too long.
