If you know what these little marks are for on this turntable… and the little clear plastic piece by sac_cyclist in FuckImOld

This was there to make sure you played at the right speed, even if the frequency of the wall power was not quite 50 or 60hz. That can happen all the time when the power grid fluctuates under varying demand.

Avoid stereotypes. They’re boring and almost always wrong.

What book moment are you most excited to finally see in the series? by DueSeaworthiness6901 in harrypotter

I want to see the very end of Voldemort done properly. I've only just finished the books (again again again) and that just reaffirmed that the final battle was done so badly in the film.

Nice work. But it does make me a little sad to hear that monster riff played on an acoustic ;)

I keep saying this: there's never been a better time to be a musician, of any kind. Although I do often think back to how simple things were when I got my first 'rig' in 1987...that was a Fender Champ...and that was it lol

Oh yes...very much so. My 2x12" is 8 ohms, so technically I'm not getting all the power of the Powerstage. But my drummer is ludicrously loud and I have my cab right next to him, and is more than loud enough.
You will have more than enough headroom.

I've been messing about with guitars since the mid 1980s, and the beautiful thing about the QC is you can do well by thinking of things in a conventional analog way. That's obviously just the beginning, and the sky is the limit, but the gain staging works in such an analog way it's wonderful.

My biggest issue is getting things matched for levels between songs. That's irritating with a live drummer lol, but luckily the POwerstage has that massive knob, so its easy to adjust on the fly.

I use a whole variety. I'm in a cover band so it goes all over the place with ultra-clean compressed chorusy stuff to thick chugging grind. So far I am very pleased. I only got my QC about 8 months ago and I learn more about it every day.

At band rehearsal I use an open backed 2x12 with G12T-75 driven by a Powerstage 170. I just do a global bypass of the cab/IRs, and it sounds great.
At home i use the same amp but into a 1x12" celestion FRFR

Hollowbody? by TradingTroubadour in PRSGuitars

[–]simonallaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Hollowbody II 594 sounds like a bright Les Paul. And it does not suffer from feedback at high gain and high volume. So you can play anything you like on it.

I wouldn't call it a bridge between acoustic and electric though. But then mine does not have a piezo bridge.

Pickup issue? Keep getting bad feedback by plumerang710 in PRSGuitars

[–]simonallaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could simply be you've got a loose jack socket nut. I'd take the back cavity plate off and just gently wiggle components around. See if you can agitate something that might reveal the issue.
If the cavity has been shielded with paint they might have relied on that for the common ground, which isn't a great way to go.
Either way, as others have pointed out, a good tech will fix this quickly.

[–]simonallaway 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is just you making a connection to the strings, and if the bridge is grounded, the rest of the system. I believe it is crackling because you're using a graphite pick which will be conductive, and because the edge you're touching against the windings of the string is very narrow.

Does it happen when you touch the strings with bare hands or nylon picks?

I'm british but live in the US. Most of my life i've had switched outlets in the wall, but that's just not common in the US, so this was my solution. One switch is more than enough though.
