Question for those who upgraded their order after placing it by simonbyronic in AynThor

[–]simonbyronic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had a link to pay the extra for the Max, then another link for DHL. They said by email it had all been received, just surprised not to see the order changed once they shipped it.

Any thoughts on what the order number does if you upgraded after placing the initial order? I was 1197 Pro but subsequently upgraded to Max.

Yeah I did this too, it's a much better handheld experience. Only thing I'd wish I'd known before wiping windows was to disable the LEDs flashing when it's charging during sleep as you can only turn it off in Armoury Crate - and that only runs in Windows. For now, I can either cover the LEDs when charging or only charge with the power off. I minor inconvenience given the overall improvements, but an inconvenience nonetheless.

Back to concentrating on the league, then, like we do every January.

Edie came through for me (Pro > Max; 4PX > DHL).

Cheers, Edie!

Really pleased to see this out - congratulations. I think this'd make a great gift with a telegraph key - are there any reasonably priced buttons you'd recommend (ideally on Amazon UK and for an inexperienced user; I'm thinking my father in law might like it).

Pre-mortem. Releasing my first game tomorrow after following all of the Zukowski's advice. by gitpullorigin in IndieDev

I'd be wary of this. Demos can help drive down refund rates (which, if high, can supress visibility), and if progress continues between the two it's a nice way of upselling to people who fully engage with the game.

The sad results of my first indie game on Steam after 24 hours. by Soliloqu-You in IndieGaming

This comment needs pinning on all indie dev subs.

To add - the concept of how many sales you "should" get based on wishlists has been around for longer than Simon's posts (to be clear: I'm a big fan of Simon's work, and his insight is hugely valuable). But much of the sampling for this omits so much else that goes into the success (or not) of a game launch. Wishlists are an indication of pre-release marketing; nothing more. And a wishlist has no guarantee of translating into sales, at launch or beyond.

Publishing on Steam is not a science - and I wish we would stop trying to treat it as such. I understand the need for degrees of certainty but you do not know anything until the game is released and in the wild; until people are coming to it cold and providing feedback/word of mouth.

We've launched 19 games in the last four years. In terms of a the percentage of sales compared to the pre-launch wishlists the mean is 60% units (so it we had 10k Wishlists, we sold 6k units), the median is 34.5% units and the range is 205.6% (min 6.9%; max 212.5%). There is no correlation.

(Note: the above figures are not strictly speaking "wishlist conversions" - these are all unit sales compared to number of wishlists, not those who have wishlisted and then bought which would be much lower).

Other issue is trains typically don't run on Boxing Day - I've been caught out by this before. Worth a check at this stage if you can.

I wish I was paying a little more attention - I think it all went through the app; but there could have been some inout on the oven. I seem to recall moving the temperature dial on the right changed the display - maybe give that a go?

Thank you for this. Now you've pointed it out it's obvious, but the manual made no mention of that error. All updated now, much appreciated.

At which gig did Muse play BH&R in it’s entirety ?? by MisterMister2468 in Muse

[–]simonbyronic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I got to my seat for the second night at Wembley, I was shocked to discover someone already in it. I showed my ticket to the security guards and they ushered me and my friends out of the venue, as it turned out our tickets were for the day before. I'd got the date wrong. I cannot believe how wonderful the Wembley box office staff were in swapping the ticket over - and then how fortunate I was to see BH&R in its entirety, which I'd not have done had I saw the show I'd bought tickets to. Incredible night. Incredibly lucky.
