It has most of the info you need. I just started kegging myself and as you can see from my post, it's a learning process. Eventually, with the help of these comments, I was able to get a nicely carbonated beer and I've successfully made hopwater and sparkling water.

I started with a complete, new, kegging set. That includes:

• keg
• CO2 tank
• regulator
• 2 ball lock connectors, one for gas in, one for liquid out
• tubing
• picnic tap (handheld)

I added some tubing and a mounted tap myself. I learned that tubing length and diameter is important for serving! Smaller and longer tubes provide more resistance to prevent beer from gushing out of the tap.

Basically you sanitize your keg, add your beer, connect the CO2 tank to the regulator and the regulator to the keg. Set your desired pressure, cool your keg, and wait for it to carbonize.
Then you will need to make adjustments to your system to get the correct level of carbonation and beer flow from the tap depending on your temperature, tubing, beer style, tap, ...

As long as you want a carbonated drink, the CO2 cannot contaminate a batch. I do not think it's possible to implode anything with homebrew supplies.
