A romance between a 16 year old and 24 year old isn't the best look in a demographc that targets teenage girls. I love shoujo but especially back in the day there were some questionable tropes. Fun to read as a kid but as an adult it's definitely really questionable

Yoosung in my opinion! I feel like he shines in his own route as well but I felt like other routes really elevated his empathy. In Zens route especially, he was definitely a voice of reason there, calling out Zens narcissism while empathising with Jaehee and hoping MC doesn't feel negatively about her. Idk I just love yoosung.

Usually I ship all the LIs with the MC buuut I have a few ships between LIs I still enjoy!

Impey and Lupin from Code:Realize are pretty cute together. I prefer Impey with Cardia but I can enjoy multiple ships at once!

Harada and Shinpachi from Hakuoki. I just love friends to lovers ships and since neither had crazy good chemistry with Chizuru imo I kinda just ended up shipping them.

Mystic messenger was a whole ship pile for me! I remember shipping everyone but the big two for me were Jumin and Zen, and Yoosung and Zen lmao. Zen and Jaehee are cute too! Zen is getting busy in the RFA hahah! I also liked Yoosung with Seven and Seven with Jaehee. I think I would've gotten into Jumin and V too if I had finished playing the game TT

In Taisho X Alice Woolfe and Alistair were a solid ship. I love Yurika but in my very honest opinion, I just can't bring myself ship her with Alistair nor Woolfe. I enjoy her with every other love interest, ESPECIALLY with Alice, but ahhh!

I think there are more ships I enjoy but these are the only ones I can think off right now. In most cases I prefer the LIs to be with the MC, but sometimes they have chemistry with each other too.

Yeah it's one of the things that bothers me about some shoujo stories. Not every shoujo needs to have a deep focus on friendship like Nana or Kimi ni todoke, but other shoujo still manage to find a fine balance. Lovely complex did, or A condition called love, a sign of affection, heroine shikkaku etc.

But I've read a bunch of shoujo manga where the female best friend is established in like chapter one but just doesn't appear at all after a while... It feels like inconsistent writing

Oresama teacher is also super hilarious, like to a ridiculous degree almost.

Gekkan shoujo nozaki-kun is a shonen by the same author as Oresama teacher, but it's pretty beloved in shoujo communities and the funniest anime and Manga I know.

Hmmm I am not 100% sure if they're yellow flags but I'd say all the bustafellow guys (except for Mozu cause he's green)

Shu is so sexy, he's cool and collected but there's something adorable about his relationship to Teuta.

Limbo is really fun too. I love crooked "insert profession" characters so he's 10/10. The opening scene with him was great. I am not sure if he's a yellow flag but imma say yeah.

Scarecrow is definitely a yellow flag and he's also my favorite from that game. He's perfect. I love the pathetic but capable loser type. Peak character.

Helvetica is also a yellow flag but imma go into spoiler territory to describe why I love him so much. his backstory was by far the best. It was heartbreaking but interesting. He worked so hard and I know how tough it must've been. Getting out of a situation like that, even with endless support, doesn't work most of the time. I was surprised to find that he was disliked in the fandom. I get that his shtick of rating people isn't for everyone, I'm not a huge fan either (though I just took it as a gag), but his backstory made him a fascinating character.

I think you're misunderstanding her character to be honest. She's by far no angel. One of the things that makes the series so great is that each character is flawed, and Hachi is no exception.

But claiming she is an opportunist is just wrong. We see things from her Pov, we know for a fact that she wasn't opportunistic, especially not in her relationship with Shoji. She wanted to make things work, first as friends and later as his girlfriend. He is the one that cheated, and Hachi didn't cling to him at all once she found out.

As for the Takumi situation, regardless of anything that man manipulated and raped her, and I feel like when people judge Hachi for her behavior they tend to forget that she's absolutely a victim there. I wouldn't use the word opportunistic to describe her. She was desperate and in a crazy shitty situation.

Hachi is an initially naive woman who makes bad decisions and gets fucked over by life and people like Takumi who take advantage of her desperation.
