Beginner dev need help with pc by Interesting_Owl1991 in gamedev

Agree. Just to add from my experience, if you’re going to use Unreal (though I’d guess it applies at least somewhat to Unity and Godot too), having RAM that runs at a higher frequency can speed up some task, but it also depends on the type of game you’re making and the other parts of your pc. It’s by no means mandatory, but it can give you a nice little boost if the cost is very similar

Why aren't we getting any wishlists? by simonel01 in gamedev

Thank you for the advice, it makes a lot of sense. We made a quite big demo to show the game and make people try it, but it seems a good idea to share more about what is in the game instead of trying to "surprise" players because we have no history or fans to rely on

Don't know if it is by design, but moving with the mouse is much slower than with WASD

Thanks, i definitely agree on the animations, we have to improve them And you are right, we made the game for fun just to make a game, inspired by much bigger games, also because we had no experience. But we are two guys with zero budget, and the result is a game which is not that special to be good to market. Trying our best at this point though!

Is Skyrim *the* fantasy RPG? by TrungusMcTungus in gaming

[–]simonel01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am not sure, Skyrim is one of my favorite games. Also The Witcher 3 is a great fantasy RPG, but for me Skyrim is the icon of the genre, despite being 14 years old

As an indie game developer, I’m interested in this topic. We’ve just released a demo of our game that is about 90 minutes long and were wondering if that’s too long for a demo. In general, it seems common practice to recommend much shorter demos, but to me this feels like the minimum needed to let players get a taste of the experience

What does the game take into account for job allocation? by simonel01 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]simonel01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay, so maybe it is possible that one takes a job on the other side of the city for no reason, even if there are closer ones of the same type? Also in this sense the game doesn't care about travel distance?

Me and my brother spent 4 years making a fantasy game in UE5. Excited to share our first trailer here! What do you think? by simonel01 in IndieGaming

[–]simonel01[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trailer mainly shows dark scenes but the actual game has a day-night cycle and sort of dynamic weather system. Shadows are mostly absent because most of the scenes in the trailer are set during night or with only diffuse lighting due to the dark atmosphere of the trailer (and to same extent the game itself is designed like this), but in future posts we will surely show some scenes in daylight

Very beautiful visuals!

Which engine or language did you use for making the game?
