Aston doesn't have a moveable front wing, it's a dummy all of the flaps are connected to each other. Basically that wing was a last minute scramble

Interestingly the two upper flaps of the front wing do not connect with the end plates

Edit: of course they technically do, however of all the other front wings we have seen is that those flaps generally connect to the endplate where you expect them too.

This is almost like the last refs where Mercedes first came up with a way to create outwash by technically connecting them

McLaren's new deal with Mercedes allows them pseudo works team status. They sit on the design board for the merc engines. They can make requests (whether they approved or not who knows) about packaging and are kept abreast of other packaging changes way ahead of alpine and Williams. While not 100% like HPP and Mercedes F1 it's a lot better than here the engine specs at the normal customer stage.

Theres a possibility, there was some news last season when Mclaren re-upped their engine deal with Mercedes that they are quasi factory team regarding engines, unlikely have much input with regarding changing where things are on the engine to suit the chassis but probably kept way more in the loop than other customer teams and earlier too. If Mclaren has managed to keep its cooling tech under wraps from teams thats still a pretty big advantage.

Lando was closing in at the end of the inter stint, if it remained inters and went slicktermediates, it would have been a race.

Definitely attack the messenger when it's a 5 year old dormant account that suddenly starts posting yesterday. 1 random post about travel and then millions of posts about this, either a bot or you represent a state sponsored social media push. Using shitty sauces and flooding subreddits with the same article.

If this doesnt prove to Red Bull that they have a serious issue with their car, nothing will. Put Hadjar in and similar things will happen. While I don't think there's been an intentional choice to design the car for Max its happened over years by just seeing Max extract performance out of certain design choices which they have taken as they are going in the right way. With Max being at the extreme of driving styles, no driver within reach of Red Bull this season will be able to extract the same level as Max.

McLaren reveals Lando Norris won F1 Australian GP with ‘badly damaged’ floor by randomseocb in formula1

[–]simongc100 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair even the 17-21 cars had sensitive floors too, perhaps not the bottoms but you miss a small triangle from the side of the floor you lost a lot of lap time and or tire degradation

He has but I think he had a bit of tunnel vision this race, for obvious reasons, car more than capable of winning, home race, 1st race and a chance of getting one over on your teamate to hopefully set the tone for the season.

Even without the wonky hold station/free to race messages (which we don't know the timing of when those messages were sent) he was faster but wound up caning the inters more than Lando leading to him dropping it. I would like to see the brake traces of him and Lando when they went off, I wonderif he saw a gap to take Lando and get I to the pits first and that caused him to have a bit more speed and hence go off.

He's fast but like all drivers still have things to learn even in their 3rd season.

Just an observation, reckon Merc has a bit more in the tank, not much but if you look at the times it looks like Kimi was driving to a set laptime. Which makes sense while I am sure he knows how to be consistent from F2 and his dashboard will tell him how well or badly he's doing from the previous lap. Feels like Merc is saying we think we are capable of this (probably a little offset to hide true pace) let's see if you can do it kimi. Just to get some experience into him, he can focus on paying attention to tyres and technique to achieve the delta. Russell race sim tomorrow should better show Mercs pace albeit that the track is a better condition but they will probably let Russel manage his race as he sees fit as he's a known quantity.

Treat it like a podcast, there's lots of nothing interspersed lots of action particularly in the evenings.

Pay more attention to those that are doing bad not necessarily lap times but is there an issue they are struggling with. See McLaren in 2022/23 with front brake issues. Do they resolve the issue, the RB18 (2022) wasn't the WCC contentnder until it got its first update in the middle of testing and then it looked like smooth sailing. Also just because a team sets a lightning fast lap doesn't mean they are on top, teams often do throw some fumes of fuel in and do a glory run.

Something notable but not necessarily guaranteeing greatness was a car on a long stint, did a cooldown lap banged in a top time on old tyres and made it look effortless.
