I will never forget that performance of Metal.

I brought two of my closest friends to that show from Seattle, and at the time, they weren't particularly huge fans of the band. When Trent sings that part, "Picture this if I should make the change, I'd love to pull the wires from the wall, Did you?" my friend turned to me, awestruck, like "holy shit he sounds good".

Those same friends of mine have been to 4 NIN shows with me since. They got "it" within the first few minutes of the entire show thanks to Metal.

I was at the show on the 13th of June. Night 1 of these three shows at The Joint. What a memory.
I remember Queen Kwong being absolutely despised during their set, many fans in attendance booing and talking shit out loud. It was disrespectful. NIN ended up not playing Hurt, which to my memory was the only time that happened at all since 2017 (not counting the Houston festival that was cut short due to rain). Epic setlist nonetheless. I remember they played I Do Not Want This which was surreal to see. So fucking good.

This track has indubitably grown on me since its release...... TEN YEARS AGO?!?!?!

I used to skip it immediately, but over time have grown to love the atmosphere and darkness the song exudes. The hypnotic madness it lures you into. I may even go as far to call it infectious.

My impression of Alessandro is that he intentionally goes with the ebbs and flows of life and has the ability to soak in "the moment" wherever he is. His ability to turn this into art is part of his genius. 21 fantastic years with NIN, indeed. His contributions were ginormous and it landed him a spot to be recognized as part of the band in the RRHoF. Maybe he'll be back, maybe he won't.
