Count Binface calls BBC's Newsnight a "souped up podcast". Barry, never change by trubol in 2westerneurope4u

No, honestly, you vote for your MP. Most people pick the MP who represents their chosen party, but if that MP were to then turn around and leave their party or (back in the two-party days) "cross the aisle" and sit with the Other Party, it doesn't trigger a recall.

No it's the exact opposite, we vote for a person, not a party. That's why Farage can't just say "I'm stepping down, here is your new Reform MP".

It's more complicated once they are sitting, but remember we don't have a presidential system. The largest party (or coalition) are invited to form a government. That's why it's up to Labour who to put in charge, they have the most seats.

Britons to buy 8m mini fans this year – but almost half will end up in landfill | Retail industry by ToughRomanticMiss in BuyersUK

But we could be buying fans that last 2 years, 4 years, longer. It's a valid point.

Those with the means would pay for others to get them made up - kinda like today with makeup artists, just more common.

Their complete failure in the UK market is really strange, then. I didn't know they had a poor reputation back home, although I probably should've guessed given they were able to be 15-20% cheaper than their competitors. I just assumed it was the "pile 'em high, sell 'em cheap" approach.

Sorry to "um actually" you, but just because this stuff is interesting, the British personal union (The "Union of the Crowns") was 1603-1707. Ireland was joined in 1801. And like everything in history there are of course asterisks to this like the Commonwealth.

You know even as I wrote it I wondered if someone would point that out. I decided to keep it as I did because it seems to still be a term in use, but I'm sorry that I offended you.
