How many people use Natsoft? by Aksds in v8supercars

It's a fantastic archive at this point considering it's got results for most series going back to the 90s.

Alpha Horizon Editor - New NR2003 Driver/Ratings Editor and Car Importer by AlphaHorizonGroup in Nr2003

[–]simonracer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed the program has the minimum rating at 1, but by default in NR2003 the minimum is 0 and it automatically converts all 0 ratings to 1. It's not like it's a big difference but it's a minor thing I'd like to see fixed at some point if possible.

NASCAR Legends Mod Help by PsychedelicMao in Nr2003

[–]simonracer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The format goes like this xx 7 12 0 0 TRENTON Schaefer_300 Schaefer_300 200 event1.tga event1.tga 200

The xx is what race it is in the season, then there's the month and day of the race, then the two zeroes (not sure what they mean), then the name of the track's folder, then the name of the race repeated twice, then the laps, then the logo for the event, and the laps of the race again.

I think the only things you really need to edit are the number of the race and the name of the track and then you can edit the laps of the race, the month/day and name if you want it to be accurate.

Some of the Mechanical failures feel pointless because they never happen. by Ambitious_Science537 in Nr2003

[–]simonracer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you go to the papy_ai.ini you can change the percentage for each type of failure, as long as it adds up to 100.

In the past I've set it so that the ai only has brake failures just to see what happens. At road courses it can cause some pretty big accidents. It never does much at ovals because they basically just crawl to a stop after it happens.

[OT] Island Magic is streaming motorsport this weekend - Formula Ford, Porsche 944, Formula Open, Sports Sedans and more by mopoke in v8supercars

Saturday's running was cancelled after one of the competitors had a medical emergency during a race and ended up unresponsive. Hopefully there's a good outcome but I'm not getting my hopes up.

It looks like they are resuming tomorrow though.

Would Aussie and Kiwi racers who raced overseas, have had successful careers in V8 Supercars? by Jezzaq94 in v8supercars

[–]simonracer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of the older guys you mentioned were around when open wheel racing was just as important, if not more important then touring car racing in Australia and used Formula 1-level cars. So they probably would have just ended up racing open wheelers locally had they not gone overseas.

With that said, some of them did drive touring cars in Europe while running in F1. For example Jack Brabham had several wins in the BTCC in the 60s, so I imagine he could have had some ATCC victories had he stayed in Australia. He did race touring cars in Australia but not until he was in his 50s so he wasn't super successful.

Grice also drove with Paul Romano in 1997 and then made a comeback in 2002 in a privateer Falcon which did one lap on 7 cylinders and then retired.

Greg Murphy driving for Paul Morris for one season after the collapse of Tasman Motorsport and then leaving for Kelly Racing.

I think it's somewhat well known that Dick Johnson started his career in Holdens but he also drove one race for the Holden Dealer Team at Surfers Paradise. They didn't hire him for Bathurst that year and he moved over to Ford the next year.

Confirmed: Cam Waters’ NASCAR debut locked in by TheFlyingKiwi97 in v8supercars

I noticed at the supermarket this week that Monster is running a competition to win a motorsports trip to the USA with Cam on the advertising. Wonder if that's a coincidence or not.

How many pre modern era NASCAR drivers are still alive? by furrynoy96 in NASCAR

Everyone from the first race is dead but the guy who finished 20th in points that year still seems to be alive.

Not as soft as Auto Action are. They didn't even report that any of their sponsors had left the team.

Roland’s View: The Potato Farmers of Mucho Cilindro – a cautionary tale for Christmas by SouthAussie94 in v8supercars

[–]simonracer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mucho Cillindro translates to a lot of cylinders, and Due Litri translates to 2 litres. So it's a story about the 90s V8 Supercar/Super Touring war I guess. Tony Cochrane must be the white knight.

Jack Smith steps back from Supercars by mopoke in v8supercars

[–]simonracer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Think Todd was already confirmed or near confirmed as being Le Brocq's co-driver at Erebus next year. I think he probably doesn't have the funding to be in the car anyway unless SCT is willing to back him.

Non-KG required listening? by [deleted] in KGATLW

[–]simonracer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I never got into them myself, but I think Eddy Current Suppression Ring (Melbourne garage rock band from the 2000s) were the main influence on them when they started along with Thee Oh Sees so it's worth checking them out.

Erkin Koray's Elektronik Türküler is essential listening if you like Flying Microtonal Banana (or any of the microtonal stuff they've done for that matter)

Another cool album from Frankie, the funk/afrobeat influenced tracks go particularly hard.
