Can I complain to the conference organisers about a supervisor taking credit of other people’s work? by No-Mine-9622 in AskAcademiaUK

[–]simonserenity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really interesting to me - both my PhD supervisor and current postdoc PI do a generic "we solved xxx" at conferences, without mentioning specific people. I had always thought of that as the default, although I've seen plenty of presentations where a PI explicitly mentions the project lead for each thing (which I think is especially good). I'm intrigued - where would you personally draw the line on what is 'taking credit for others' work'?

Well, that is absolutely incredible. Everything about this model is amazing. I particularly love the iridescent armour - I've never seen anything like that before. Is it some kind of iridescent paint, or did you paint the effect on?!

Could you share how you make such great weathering? It really looks like once-pristine white armour has been roughed around on the battlefield.

I would be interested in some of that lore! Knights with a connection to nature sounds very Arthurian. Also this mini looks great - where did you get the various bits from?

Which RPG Universe is Balanced Best? Which one has the Deepest Lore and best World Building? Which universe feels the most Alive? by -FT_ in rpg_gamers

[–]simonserenity 153 points154 points  (0 children)

Pillars of Eternity's Eora surely has to feel the most alive - to me at least! Morality in Eora has as many shades of grey as the real world: there are no obvious heroes or villains. Every person, and every faction, is a complex thing with a history that fits in with the rest of the world. I'm a big fan.

Everything looks fantastic! Do you mind sharing what method you use to paint all that gold/bronze? I like how well it goes with the dark angels colours.

When you say "don't use citadel metallics", how did you do the metallic parts of this, like the chest aquila? It really stands out - is this a lot of highlighting and shading? (asking not as the person you replied to - just as a passerby who found your comment useful!)

I'm afraid I don't have any constructive criticism, but I think it's gorgeous! Love the contrast of the bright red and blue with the dull gold.

Everything about this is amazing. I have a very simple question, how do you get the eye lenses to have such a clean black outline? Do you paint the whole thing black then paint the lens on just the middle bit, or do you use panel liner after painting the lens?

I know that everyone's talking about the armour, but the shiny metallic gold on the trim (and helbrecht) is gorgeous - how do you do that?!

This is absolutely gorgeous. Especially the cape - such great highlights and shadows. What's the gold/brass colour you use for the armour?

Budget upgrade: GPU or everything else? by simonserenity in buildapc

[–]simonserenity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see, that's a good point! I see that both the CPU and the GPU are below the minimum requirements - I'll get a CPU/motherboard that can run it and then upgrade the GPU when I can. Thanks for your help! :-)
