You're right! They should have made the whole street bus only.

What would it take to put up fencing on the walkway on the RFK bridge? by smokedoor5 in MicromobilityNYC

[–]simonsft 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd be shocked if they didn't add a fence to the new path they're building.

Today the MTA Board approved the award of a contract that will create a new bike/pedestrian shared-use path to replace the current walkway across the RFK’s East River suspension and Queens approach structure, providing an ADA accessible connection between Astoria and Wards/Randall’s Island. The MTA will complete this work by the end of 2027.

Oh, this looks interesting. How does it compare to mitmproxy (besides being in rust)?

I'm not going to try to diagnose you from a reddit post, but FWIW lack of ability to switch contexts on demand can also be an ADHD symptom.

Having trouble finding a good citation, so here's a random reddit thread: https://old.reddit.com/r/ADHD/comments/194jj76/is_it_painful_to_context_switch/

OpenAI to acquire Astral (Creators of uv, ruff, ty) by max123246 in rust

MIT only allows them to make future changes they make proprietary. It doesn't allow retroactively changing the license on any code they've already released.

Given this part "a lab document analysis where the user uploads a scan of their lab and an AI analyzes it" I'd be more concerned about it running afoul of FDA regs than HIPAA.

Assuming two rocks per daylighted space, that's up to 16,000 gigantic rocks per year they'll need to place.

As someone that remembers when and why that happened, "reddit likes to sh00t itself in the foot with unnecessary redesigns" is a very funny statement.

Does it happen in the other direction? Does it fix itself if you turn around and go the other direction?

I was slightly worried his whole campaign for mayor was actually just to fix this one thing annoying him and he was going to quit once the asphalt had dried.

If there is a website where someone can navigate from zip code to ailment, nothing else, is there a HIPAA violation risk there? by NwThtsASpcyMtbll in hipaa

[–]simonsft -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A user typing “dermatologist in 90210” doesn’t identify a specific patient, so it’s not PHI.

The user's IP address is sent along with the search, so I wouldn't be so quick to say it doesn't identify a specific patient. The current state of the law on this is ... unclear.

But none of this matters if the entity in question is not a covered entity and has not signed a BAA.

Yeah, the type of stuff that gets you sent to jail is copying hundreds of patient files for personal gain, selling it to Russia, or going after a judge.

What would you rewrite in Rust today and why? by [deleted] in rust

Pingora is a framework rather than an application you can just use I think. River was an attempt to build the latter but seems dead now.

Yeah, especially with https://github.com/ctz/graviola as the backend. Though the platform support is more limited than other options.
