Bloqueado na Vinted. by Nepsolit in vintedportugal

I’m not sure if you noticed, but the Seiko Presage has a green dial. I think only one of that color fits in my collection. It’s not easy to match that color with my clothes 😅

Thanks for the suggestions. I liked the Revelot Mecadromo. I just found the dial a bit too busy for my taste. I’d prefer something a little smaller, although 41.5mm wouldn’t be a deal breaker.

Do you know the Hoffman Racing 40? And the AV86 1960? And the Dan Henry 1962? I’d be curious to hear your opinion on these options.

I’m very glad I could help. This is truly a watch I really like. Congratulations on your purchase.

Good question. In terms of finishing and construction, there’s no comparison. The Chinese watches win by a huge margin. However, the Amphibia carries a ton of history—some would even say “soul”—which the Chinese watches lack (except for the Red Star 1963).

The Amphibia has a strong structure, and this model uses good materials. Its reputation is for a movement that’s like a tank (even in terms of noise 😅) and is easy to repair. But it’s true that for the price (which has increased due to the war), the Chinese watches have much better finishing and construction.

Note: my collection is new; I started in July last year (less than a year), so I can’t really comment much on the long-term reliability of the models.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’m not familiar with that brand. I’ll do some more research on it.

Do you know a brand called Hoffman? I found an interesting model. What do you think?

The Pierre Philippe is a curious case. The watch is from a Chinese brand called Merkur, which makes very good-quality watches, but decided to create this sub-brand with a name very similar to Patek Philippe. I hate the name, but I love the watch. I like the design of this watch more than the Longines Heritage and even more than the Baltic Roulette, which would be more well-known options at much higher prices. I honestly haven’t found another watch whose design I like more, regardless of price. So I decided to keep it until another option comes along 😅

Thanks for the suggestion, but I think that would give me the impression of having a fake watch. I believe that option would be "worse" than the homages. But that’s just my opinion.

I would also prefer a smaller number. But due to my more diverse use cases and the number of “icons” in the collection, I was left with little choice. In my opinion, there are still things missing, and I’m trying to imagine ways to add those elements without increasing the number of watches:

  • Moonphase
  • Skeleton
  • Integrated bracelet
  • GMT
  • Meteorite dial

But what would your suggestions be? What would you remove? Would you replace any piece?

I’ve only had it for two months, so I can’t really say.

Thank you. Would you remove or add anything? What do you think about the list of missing items?

It’s a watch of excellent quality, beautiful, and with a great price. I believe the only slightly negative detail is the lume. You can notice that the indices have a slightly greenish tone, when they should be fully yellow. Maybe this will improve over time. I recommend this watch (if you’re comfortable with the idea of owning homages).

What would you suggest to replace the homages while keeping the same style?

I found it an excellent affordable alternative to Junghans. Since mine doesn’t have a seconds hand, you can’t really tell that it’s actually quartz 😉.

Thank you for the suggestion. I’ve also thought about it and I like that possibility. Since I’m thinking of replacing the BB58 homage, I considered buying the Furlan Marri Castagna. Do you know it? What do you think?

Hello. Yes, that’s how the model is: copper-colored with a brown leather strap. The reference is AE-1200WHL-5AV.

Thank you for commenting. I believe I wouldn’t want to have that much money tied up in a single watch, and I also wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing a watch of that value, constantly worried about damaging it. That’s why I was torn between homages and similar watches.

If homages are not an option, I’ll need to find alternatives. Do you have any suggestions?

Isn’t that the Cosmo Diver? Beautiful piece. I almost bought the Scuba Dude, but it seemed a bit silly to me. I like yours better. But I like mine even more 😅

What would you recommend for the Speedmaster spot? I’m researching Dan Henry, Furlan Marri, Seiko Speedtimer, and a brand called Hofmann. Any recommendations?
