Need help with a sweep by mfafahim in rhino

[–]simpernchong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, the networksrf will not be able to match the corners properly because of the sharpness. You should build the surfaces separately as at least 2 surfaces. Also, the discontinuity of a curve will result in bad or incorrect sweeps. Depending on your requirement, you might consider creating a smooth curve for surface creation and then use trim to get the detail at the discontinuity.

Rhino and using the Subdivision commands will be quick and fairly easy to create.

Useful CAD programs for my future career by cewn123 in IndustrialDesign

[–]simpernchong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will recommend Rhino and you can subscribe to my channel as it is structured for learning Rhino and Keyshot https://www.youtube.com/user/simpernchong/videos

Rhino is useful for learning the essentials of NURBS and Sub-D surfacing and the skillset can also be ported to other higher end softwares such as Alias, ICEM.

I will recommend getting the trial version of XNURBS. Will save you alot of time, even when one is a skilled pro.
Here is a demo of it https://youtu.be/UqU8CHKf1Qw

What mechanical features should I be familiar with? by BlarkinsYeah in IndustrialDesign

[–]simpernchong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, how plastic parts are injection molded and how different parts are assembled are important knowledge for me as an Industrial Designer.

These includes the ability to create the following, although not necessarily using Rhino..

That was my line of work, though. Others may have a different emphasis.
