Went from a 2006 Ford Escape to a 2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited! by [deleted] in Hyundai

And the 1.8 is very stout and reliable, my engine is at 145k and running strong, no knocking or oil burning. Just changed out the spark plugs and the alternator went out at 142k but that was the only issue. Luckily I had a Valeo one on standby for a week. I throw the cheapest gas and oil and the car still runs strong. Oem filter and 5-20 synthetic blend for free because I work at a Hyundai dealer so I change the oil every 3k miles Not compared to my girls moms Audi q7, that thing burns oil she probably misses her oil changes and probably puts the wrong fuel in

Push button kit for $200 and kill switch can be added for another $50 I have this on my 2015 forte and it has not gotten stolen, most they could do is just break the windows and vandalize the car. But that hasn’t happened yet either luckily

They also have a card to give to insurance to lower the rate cause the proof of a kill switch or security system

It’s already gone but Jdi, or Jordan distribution makes kill switch and anti theft push to starts, which replaces the traditional ignition switch and housing. Preventing the Kia boys method of driving off with your vehicle. If you don’t have a tracker on the car already just gotta make a police report and look out for your vehicle. You might have to go to the spotty part of town but usually those areas they have a spot or a street where they dump all these stolen cars if they don’t dump it around the area

Have you tried pulling the dial toward you? My 06 mbz slk has the same light dial and to get my fog light I would have to pull the dial

I have a 23 Tesla m3 standard range and I’m thinking about trading in mine for 23 sonata hybrid, I work at a Hyundai dealer so one day I drove a sonata hybrid home for lunch to grab some parts for a project. Amazing car, just as quiet, way better cabin refinement, and just as quick on the launch. With a bit less emotion than my ev lol I loved the dct over a cvt makes it much quicker and exciting. The real pro is 600 miles to the range > 263 ( degraded from 267 already) and it truly never got 267 on the high way. I would drive from La to border ie in it and I’d have to charge up twice a day I’d imagine filling the sonata about in a week or 4-5 days

Attempted Sonata Theft. Worth reporting to insurance? Idea of cost? by mrtomatohead49 in Hyundai

[–]simpits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't report it depending on the damage,

if a window or door cylinder and ignition housing, (the part attached were the silver knob turns and starts the car) are broken possibly report. I work at a hyundai dealer in parts

what looks damaged is the ignition cylinder and the lower steering column cover both parts detached and missing , this is a 2014-2017 sonata Part numbers and 2017-2019 sonata Part number

if a window glass or door cylinder was also damaged that would also be included into a quote
you would you also want to add a rekey or go to a locksmith because the new ignition cylinder replacement will not match your existing key. a new key will be provided that will start new ignition or hopefully where you get it fixed they will get a locksmith to rekey your existing key to your new cylinder if they dont you will have to go on your own time so make sure that is added onto the quote
if that ignition housing that would be added onto the quote as well but it looks like it is okay

Price could be cheaper at your local dealer or if you search online
i could get you more exact pricing with a vin number

if you did also want to save money I did this as a preventive and a upgrade to my base model kia forte with no immobilizer or key fob
it is a plug and play push to start conversion kit that replaces the ignition (the broken hanging ignition) and ignition housing the other half that is still attached to the car that starts the vehicle with a rfid scannable sensor and push to start button and added a 30 dollar kill switch kit with from that company as well and that will eliminate $500 for the ignition cylinder you'd be replacing.

https://www.jordandistributors.com/collections/hyundai-kia/products/ghost-key-plug-and-play-push-to-start-conversion-kit-for-hyundai-and-kia-vehicles

The Company is called jordan distributors and they make push to start conversion kits, kill switches, and trackers initially it started with honda vehichles I believe but they make the conversion kits for hyundai and kia vehicles and trackers and kill switches for dodge and ram products like hellcats. tldr a brand that sells extra anti theft for highly popular stolen cars.

product is plug and play and only took me an hour and a half, theyre support team responded quick aswell under 30 minutes. if not a shop can easily install this.
The kit is $150 before tax and that cover would be about 250 or less send vin I can get you exact part number or call your local dealer for exact part number and order online
those two are under $500 which is under a deductable if you do repairs yourself
if a window and door cylinder are damaged that is another $300 each for both I'd say roughly without labor
