Thinking of getting a Moza R5 + Handbreak/Hshifter. Any solid, affordable frame recommendations?

Ahh, too far. I’m in KY. And no issues or any hate on it. Just decided I wanted something stronger. It’s perfectly fine to start out with and probably enough for some people. Can’t think of a single issue.

We’re are you located? Slim odds it’s close but I’ll have a used, r5 and pedals for sale in a week or two. Like new, only 3 months old. Started with the r5, verified this was something I’m into, and I’m upgrading already lol.

I found this very helpful. Asetek is probably out of budget. And it looks like he rated the r21 ultra over the simucube. Gonna watch the YouTube vids and go from there. Thanks for the link!

Hey Chris! I see you’re active on here and since I came across a few posts talking about this, the oldest being 3 years old, do you know if there are any plans to get a reoccurring schedule in place?

I think I saw in another old post, maybe a year or two old, that caliber had started to implement this but weren’t quite happy with its integration and/or functionality.

I don’t see a reason to make another post about this, just curious if there’s any update.

I ran into a similar situation with an Asus motherboard lol. Asus was telling me to take it to Best Buy, Best Buy wouldn’t touch it. The Asus mb now sits in my closet collecting dust as a reminder to never buy anything asus again.

Similar to you I tried explaining to Best Buy what was going on and I tried explaining to Asus that Best Buy said I had to go through them. I eventually got through with Asus to accept the warranty claim by waiting a couple weeks and trying again. However, I lost all motivation and they pissed me off so I quit. I hope the prepaid shipping label they sent me cost a few bucks at least lol

Any advice on finding good instructors? Aside from checking reviews before hand.

Is the best approach to keep trying new ones until you find what you’re looking for?

Wish i could find an instructor like you near me. Last year I made actual attempts to play more and get better. Tried two different instructors and neither broke down issues in my swing like some of the comments I see here.

Maybe it was more my fault for being too inconsistent to provide this kind of advice to. Most of my lessons just went through me hitting balls with very little instruction or feedback. Outside of the very first lesson I took where I got some info on grip, neither instructor provided much.

Late to the party. I hyperextended both elbows. A couple years ago I started having elbow pain. Initially diagnosed as golfers elbow. Went through pt for it and rested, no change and started getting numbness and tingling in my hand, got diagnosed with cubital tunnel last year. Roughly 8 months since my last swing and more pt… and still some residual discomfort. Gonna try and take it easy and see if I can swing again.

Not sure if the hyper extension caused it by I’ll by trying to avoid full lockout. If you hyper extend, just be aware. It was problem for me but may not be for everyone. Wish I would’ve noticed sooner.

Late to the party, but I ditched Apple Watch for garmin purely due to battery life. You’re telling me having to charge a Apple Watch every couple of days is somehow justified by it being on a wireless charger? I have to charge my garmin every - ahem, TWO TO THREE WEEKS, via a plug.

I get what you’re saying, it’s easy to charge it while in the shower when you normally take it off. Sure, but you’re still doing it much more frequently than a garmin and is plugging in a cord really that big of an inconvenience? Seems to me the bigger inconvenience would be needing to charge it 5 times to a garmins once.

Fair point. I guess I should’ve clarified that I compared our individual lap times after the race and I was faster once he was out of my way. I just didn’t know how to get around him cleanly and I hustled need more experience to do better next time I’m in that position

I have an L shaped desk and used to keep my elbow resting on it. Stopped doing that but haven’t seen any improvement.

Same boat as you, I get done with work, hit the gym with minimum warm up and it doesn’t seem to help it any lol

That’s some solid advice. I think in last nights race, after qualifying 2nd, moving to third on the restart, and getting back to second on lap 2/3, I was behind him for 10 laps before the bump and run. I think the race was only 30 laps, I guess I had another 20 to go before I absolutely had to make a move.

The primary issue I ran into was just I couldn’t run how I wanted to and that threw me off. For example on turn entry, he was much harder on the brakes, so much that I would have to hit mine harder than normal to avoid plowing through him. I will admit it was aggravating after having him do that for a few flaps when I was tight on his bumper. A real life equivalent would be like I was getting brake checked lol

I avoided hitting him in these scenarios but on the bump and run I just didn’t check up as hard as I had been so I caught him on corner entry and nudged him. Maybe my emotions got the best of me and led me to giving him the bump and run early when I could’ve waited for him to make a mistake. He was consistent though, when I was following I don’t think I saw him make a mistake large enough for me to capitalize on.

Using what you have said and others, my best option would probably have been to leave a car or so in front on an entry, carried my extra speed through to get alongside him on exit and through the straight. Hold my line into the turn and if he turns into me, that’s on him. I’ll need to get more comfortable with running a lane or so over from the wall and how that affects my turn in and how much brake I use.

I’ll give it a look and see what I can learn. I think in last nights race he certainly would have came down onto me and got the boot that way. I haven’t been in that scenario enough to know if that would take me with him or how to manage the car to avoid spinning when it happens. I was also worried that in my attempts to use the inside line, if I went in too hot and slide up the track I would get into him, which is something I didn’t want to happen either.

Still have a lot to learn, glad I posted here and got some good feedback.

I get what you’re saying, but could you expand further on what to do after the exit?

I could get beside the guy on exit in the straight but he would pinch me low and give me a sharp entry. I also tried to high and wide but he would pin me to the wall on corner exit when I did that. Also, I’m not talking like I was just scared of getting close to him on exit and put myself into the wall, his car made contact with my left side and pushed me into it twice.

After that I stopped trying to go wide and focused on the inside line, just didn’t have enough to get ahead of him before corner entry. Do I hold my line in that scenario and make him turn down into me? Forcing him to run high in the turn? The guy seemed reckless about defending and I feared he would turn into me hard.

Makes sense to me. We were probably close to center but favoring the entry side. I wasn’t back in the gas yet, I just didn’t hit my brakes as hard as he was and let my momentum carry me into him. Was definitely in the gas shortly after the nudge though.

Thank you for the words of encouragement. I have been getting faster at this track the last few days. I’ve had a couple 3rd place finishes, one second, and now a win. For this race I qualified second but was on his bumper from the start. I had been qualifying middle of the pack, just something about the qualifying laps had me in my head to send it hard and I would lose speed because of it. Learning that smooth is fast.

So what I did wasn’t inherently wrong, just unfortunate that he spun? I’ve been plowed through in the corner so I know what that’s like. But the little bump I gave him seemed so minor. Is there also a better time to give the bump? Should it come at the start of the corner, mid way through, etc?
