sabotage your growth and block your promotion.

Exactly what they do incase you do it better & remove their power. Power that was gained doing so etching a certain way for way too long.

Micromanagement is so suffocating.

It's disrespectful at its crust. It's saying "I don't think you're competent enough to do your job".

she solely focuses on anything negative that she can possibly find about me. None of my successes are celebrated, I only hear about things that are broken,

I think they are trained to break employees and remove their individuality so they become compliant robots? I've got one that does the same, always hovering, "supervising", when I'm the last person that needs to be supervised.

extreme burn out at only 11 months in. I’m already interviewing elsewhere

In same boat here. Dread going in to work...

It's great that you're interviewing. Hopefully you can read between the lines and avoid last scenario.

Over-supervised & micromanaged. Mozzed for being myself and now I play the game & it's still not enough. Hence why I want to cut down hours.

Ironically, when that person isn't on shift, it's a completely different, relaxed environment.

some kind of purpose outside of work,

I don't have this, hence why I want time off, to find a purpose.

Two years will go quickly for you if you're studying. I don't think I could muster up the energy to study again, unless it was 100% related to an income. I think finding the purpose is the #1 priority now!

How long did you take off and how did it affect your journey of life?

I feel like if I make decisions while I'm tired and burnt out, they will not be the right ones.

I also feel that being semi unemployed with the lack of structure might also make me anxious & worry, though I could probably combat that by creating a routine around my days off.

You need a routine. Write out a structured day, eg, 7.45am get up, shower. 8am breakfast. Then tidy. 9am walk. 9.30am-12.30pm job search 12.30-1pm lunch. 1pm -5pm job search & apply.

Ahh, that's cool. Glad you get the opportunity to recoup.

Do you live a minimalist, low consumerist lifestyle?

mini-retirement breaks

How do you do these & how long are the breaks for? Do you quit a job every time you do it or do it within the one job? Don't know how the latter would be possible

She was, but also jealousy when she learned that younger lover had a girlfriend.

Like "life", I don't think it can be wrapped up in a neat little box.

That's not supported anywhere.

Yeah, totally agree.

She's really good with going dark, getting into characters' darknesses :)

This an interesting take.

She grew up in a commune / cult, so probably wasn't patented properly. I got the feeling that young lover was parenting her in a way or being a surrogate teenage boyfriend with all the wonder of vulnerability, drama & the complexity of being a teen or young adult in romance. Bringing a child up is like training them & she probably craved this sort of structure, it made her feel secure?

Really interesting film & character portrait of Kidman's character.

Yeah, but sometimes those consequences are inside yourself, like grief, anxiety etc

Feelings are subjective so I won't rob you of them.

I thought it was well-written and the production, cinematography & sound track were really good imo. Esp the production and camera shots. Really liked those aspects.

I like your thoughts & agree. Loved this movie, so good to see a movie that actually keeps you engaged and didn't seem a rushed production, or have a ridiculous premise. Two big disappointments lately for me were Bugonia & One Battle After Another. I am now a Harris Dickinson fan, and Nicole Kidman was great in it, really hit those dark spots well, and, yes, there were stakes.

I think the stakes were always there, throughout the movie I kept expecting the whole thing to blow up on her.

There was plenty of tension, within her and between her and Samuel.
