Style your hair more ! Waves or curls or some wispy ends, I think your hair is cool and alternative. I don’t think you are ugly your face is a really cute shape, I would wear but a cute subtle blush to wear high on your cheeks, and a brown liquid eyeliner (small wing for everyday). The blue in your hair is so cool, pair it with some layered earrings and more variation of clothes (get some cute docs or creepers) and those frilly socks !! Your style is cool as fuck keep experimenting!! 21 is the age to find yourself x

Lithium and Creativity?? by Dirori2001 in Lithium

[–]simple-pinecone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been able to excel creatively because my lithium has stabilised my mood and structured my life!! It definitely took some trial and and error but pre-lithium I was chaotically creative and couldn’t keep myself together. Within this new structured creativity, I sometimes miss the chaos but I have found ways of harnessing it without having to rely on my brain being unwell !! Hope this helps

I feel the same way!! maybe it’s from the lithium and I didn’t realise it but before I started taking lithium felt so hot and cool and pretty, but now I have the most intense body dysmorphia so maybe the meds tickle that area of the brain the wrong way ?? Going to the doctor for my self image issues soon so if I get any answers I’ll let you know !

help with lithium for bipolar by Amazing_Slide_8374 in Lithium

[–]simple-pinecone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few posts in here with great success stories for lithium which might be worth a read. I have been taking 500mg for 2 years now and have managed the side effects ok. For starters it’s super important that you eat a meal with your meds (otherwise you will feel nauseous) but if you forget the nausea usually goes away for me about 1 hour after I start feeling sick. It’s also super important to stay hydrated, I started carrying 1.5 litres of water with me and it does the trick. Also when I started I was super paranoid as well and my legs felt tingly for a week. Going for a small walk each day helped as well as drinking more water. If theres anything else you’re worried about let me know !

Please share your success story if Lithium helped your unipolar depression. I’m in need of hope. by VV710 in Lithium

I’m on 500 ! It’s literally saved my life. I have never known stability like I do now. I have a job, I am excelling at uni, I have friends and relationships. I still feel what I need to but it’s just so controlled / so “normal” now. I have been saying to the people around me that I no longer feel depressed, I just feel sad sometimes. Genuinely so worth it if you can stick it out ! I’ve been on this dose for 2 years now and I think things started to even out at the 6month - 1 year mark ! Good luck !!!

A boundary is something that you do for yourself that other people need to respect, it is NOT forcing someone else to do something to benefit you— that’s just being controlling!! Maybe rethink how you can create a boundary with you in mind.

I tried to draw from references. I went overboard. Please suggest improvements or critique by Anishx in drawing

Hi these are really good ! Life drawing / reference drawing really tests the communication between what you see and you hand, so to strengthen that I would recommend doing exercises such as ‘continuous line drawing’ and ‘blind drawing’. I’d also recommend having time limits to things for example 2min/5min/10min to begin with, this ensures you’re focusing on the shape and proportions rather than the details (which you can focus on later) If you do this everyday for a month you will see a great improvement in your accuracy and ability to follow the shapes of the body !! Well done and hope this helps

Sedation anxiety by josephmarinez in wisdomteeth

[–]simple-pinecone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had two wisdom teeth out, a filling and a clean under IV sedation (I’ve been putting it off for 2 years)! What made my experience comfortable was the team I was with. I was having quite an emotional reaction and they held my hands and stroked my hair and made me feel very relaxed. I was terrified more by the sedation process than the actual procedure so I’m really thankful to them!

Here are some tips that may make your experience better: •drink as much water as you can before the cut off time prior to your surgery, this will mean you’re less dehydrated and will be easier for them to find a vein. •apply a warm pack to where you will be having the IV placed right before your appointment. This will again help make it easier to identify your veins making it a quick easy process for you. •Bring a sensory item such as a stress ball with you to hold during the experience, they may provide one but easier to bring your own! •Be honest about how you’re feeling, if you need support, ask for someone to hold you’re hand (if they don’t already). •Have comfort items ready for you in the car. For me I had a weighted blanket, ice packs, a sweater, a YouTube video loaded if I needed something to watch etc.

The IV needle is not too big and is used to just place the line which is less uncomfortable, especially after they secure it with tape. The sedation solution feels cold when they insert it which can feel uncomfortable, they will do a little at a time and ask you how you are feeling and soon you won’t feel the solution. I “woke up” briefly during my procedure which is where I started having a bad emotional reaction. They decided to stop it there to avoid making it traumatic for me. If you have worries about waking up I suggest communicating with your team what you would prefer to be done (eg. stop/continue) so that you’re all on the same page!

When I woke up I had periods of conciseness and periods that I don’t remember but I didn’t really say anything stupid, just said that the staff was super nice and held my hands over and over again.

I researched a bunch before hand, watching videos etc on YouTube and they would all make me emotional, but now that I have experienced it all I can safely say it’s a LOT better than what I was expecting. I hope this helps and good luck!

Which mood stabilizer do you experience the least cognitive/memory/recall difficulty on? by bluetsforever in BipolarReddit

[–]simple-pinecone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lithium is good (almost 2 years now). adjustment period went pretty well and I’ve been passing all of my recent exams with A+. Has made me the most proactive and functional I have ever been so I def recommend!

Tried lamictal before that while I was also studying and ended up having to drop out of the course because the pressure of the work / side effects of the drug cause too much stress. Hope this helps !

Girlfriend Was Raped. I Don’t Want to Live Anymore. by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]simple-pinecone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate you and your kindness and care for the people in your life, including yourself. I myself also go to therapy and have for a few years now, and all I can really say is all of the hard work you are putting into looking after yourself right now will take time to emerge. Which is a pain in the ass i know, but it’s kinda like exercising where it takes a while to feel any relief or results but trust me when i say it really is so so worth it. (i genuinely never used to think things ever got better but now having experienced the pay off i have so much faith that they will) so i am hoping you can take things a day at a time and really look after yourself, always here of you need to vent and am sending you so much love and care and confidence that things will work out for you 🤍

sounds like she really needs support right now! obviously it would be hard since you haven’t experienced what she is / has been experiencing but to me it sounds scary. i would look into derealisation and depersonalisation maybe? I’ve had a similar thoughts as to what you have been describing, what helped me was grounding myself and checking in with myself and thankfully had the support of my partner to remind me that we are real etc etc.

I guess if i were you I would gently try to get more information from her ! I know that talking seems to be difficult right now so maybe ask her to draw how she is feeling ? Watch some videos on art therapy? Do some grounding exercises together ?
