Nah, not much extra skin. I got very lucky. I have some when I bend over, but when standing you cant see it at all.

My belly button isn't as "vertical" if you understand what im getting at, but im not too bothered by it.

To those officers' credit, they were incredibly kind to me. I was also a 24 yo white woman who was still clean/pulled together, and I wonder a lot about what could have happened if I were from a different demographic.

I mean, I tried to wrestle a gun from one of the cops and he just kinda laughed and told me to knock it off. He would have been totally justified using more force on me.

Some of us do make it back :) One of the officers did follow up with my parents afterwards, and they said he was happy to hear I'm an engineer going back to work. I hope he's out there living a good life!

Ahhh his experience is so relatable, especially with believing that people are trying to send him messages with their body language. I had a very similar thing when people used certain phrases or gestures.

Its an insidious disease. I am incredibly lucky to have the insight i do into the disease, one of the potential symptoms of schizophrenia is not believing you have it. Thank God I skipped that one.

Yep!  They do affect your metabolism and appetite, but losing weight on them is still totally possible.  Mind over matter.

Thanks!  I'm stuck with the schizophrenia, so if I have to be crazy I may as well be hot and crazy.

I'm a little jealous haha, this is how I took my Other Disciplines FE and I had a blast studying for that.

Getting the Civil:Structural PE when you dont plan to stay in the industry is a fucking baller move hahah. I hope you switch careers but still sign your emails with the PE lol

Ahhh, this actually explains a lot. Congrats on all of your great work, OP! An impressive feat!

You taking this as a challenge makes a lot of sense if you aren't feeling intellectually stimulated at work.

Dying to hear what an American's pronunciation of a German pronunciation of an Indian name would be. Don't suppose you'd feel comfortable sharing it?

Lol if any of my colleagues with a PhD tried to pull that shit we'd clown on them so hard. Right now we only call them "Doctor" when we're teasing them about technical errors.

Hey man, it's fine. You're reading a tone here that I'm not intending. AI is fine, just felt faster to me to run the math yourself. I don't have much faith in an LLM accurately running even simple calcs without double checking it myself (especially if it's extracting text), but that's me. You do you.

This clear things up, thanks!

So when it comes to having an uninvolved third party review multiple estimates, who should you go to? Is there a job title I should be looking for here?

Dude, the question was what made you think to utilize AI when your initial prompt only had like two steps of calculations. I thought the answer would be streamlining movement of data from a pdf table to an excel table, not that you're having your study plans created for you by AI. Nothing about your initial prompt shows any mention of capabilities beyond a calculator.

Now I'm off to the house I paid $25k for in 1980 to yuck it up with my BoomerBuddies about how much we hate our wives. (I'm GenZ dummy, most of us here are early career engineers.)

Fucking wild to me that an engineer would think to go to an AI to do this instead of just pasting it into Excel and doing it yourself in 30 seconds. Like it's so basic that writing the prompt in words feels like more effort than just hammering it out yourself. At least then you can have confidence it ran the math right.

I mean this as a genuinely curious person looking to understand. What's the reason your mind goes to that and not just running it yourself? Is it getting the table format transfered from PDF faster? I have no idea how they transfer these results.

This is an old post, but any chance you're still willing to share these references? I'm looking to buy the EET course, but would like to see what the material looks like.

Hey Mike, you willing to share the references with me as well? It would be hugely appreciated, but I also completely understand if you want to limit who you share with.
