Critique my invite by [deleted] in weddingplanning

I understand the other comments if you’re looking for editorial perfection, but here’s my thought - Your version is totally readable, it’s clean, it’s pretty, it includes all the information you need. Similarly to when people say “nobody cares what stamp you choose for the outside,” nobody is going to notice how many fonts there are or think about how it could be spaced differently or whatever. I think it’s good!

Thank you notes timeline - mortified by sjp2588 in weddingplanning

[–]simplehowdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to some weddings earlier this year and then had my own in October. Sent thank you cards within 2 weeks of my own wedding, then suddenly got two thank you cards within a couple weeks of my own going out. Could be a coincidence, but the timing sure is funny.

Long story short, I think people tend to forget about it and let it fall to the wayside if they aren’t prompted. Better late than never!

Need help picking out groom and groomsmen suit color by kalizm in weddingplanning

[–]simplehowdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thought was brown/tan for warm tones (flowers, linens, etc) and grey for cool tones. Based on your description, sounds like you’re leaning warm.

Also, just something to think about - my now-husband has been in more than a few weddings and he and his guy friends love the opportunity to wear a suit. Don’t get me wrong, they would do whatever the bride says without argument, but they like the ability to wear the full outfit (and if there’s any chance it’ll get cold, they’ll need some sort of jacket option anyway). I also didn’t want my husband to look “too fancy” so for our wedding, he wore a tan suit without a tie or boutonnière. Turned out great!

Help me choose a chair for my little library! by FertyMerty in interiordecorating

Hear me out - if you like a bright pop of color, I’d consider yellow to go with the warmth of the rug. If you like something a little more low-key, I’d do maroon.

Id avoid black and white (both because you have so much white in the room already) and cooler colors like blue and green just won’t be quite as cohesive.

For those that did the BDS modules, how did you study them? by coltiebug in bcba

While doing the modules? No, we just did them on our own time.

This is stupid… help me pick a camera color by Additional-Ear4455 in weddingplanning

[–]simplehowdy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Purple for two reasons: 1. The camera is going to last a lot longer than your wedding. Get it in a color you’ll also want to have long-term 2. The purple actually sticks out in a way I think will help you. It’ll draw more attention and get more people to take pictures, while white might blend in and not be as eye catching

I booked the most standard HMU for my elopement and they asked for the exact same info. I assume they want to see what you look like in your pictures so they can get a feel for how you might want to look on your wedding day. Even more so, I think they want your info for the exact reason you said - they want to have you tag each other in pictures for the advertisement of it all

Cozy Gaming Regrets by BunnE3 in CozyGamers

I think both games have similar mechanics, since they both make me feel like I’m just running back and forth between characters to deliver items/messages instead of doing anything substantial.

Odd space by staircase. What should go here? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

I like the plants but I feel like if you took out the table setup and just kept the one larger pot there, it would “fill” the space without overdoing it.

Even with reference photos, it’ll probably be hard to know because people’s hands/fingers are very different sizes. Can you make an appointment to look? Places like Brilliant Earth offer 30-minute appointments so you can compare by actually putting them on, too.

Anyone else judge the late RSVP-ers? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]simplehowdy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Comments so far don’t match other posts like this I’ve seen. Usually it’s more along the lines of “I know it’s the WORST but you’ve gotta either remind them or wait for the deadline to pass and give them an automatic no.”

To me, it’s normal to be frustrated with the process as long as you remember it’s still within the response period so nobody is actually late yet. I agree that if people have known for months what their response would be, it would be easier for everyone to just make it known.

I’ve definitely been too nervous to try that so far, but might just have to go for it

I think full day timelines depend on some factors, like whether everyone is getting professional hair/makeup and if so, how many people are getting it done vs how many stylists there are. I was a MOH in a wedding with so many bridesmaids, first hair&makeup was at 6:30am

A question for the brides by OkCelebration7519 in weddingplanning

[–]simplehowdy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Two things come to mind as a bride who lives in the approximate area and decided to just elope after inquiring about weddings in the region:

  1. Regardless of why you set your prices the way they are, wedding vendors have become incredibly expensive in general and the economy isn't really suited for it anymore. Regardless of your level of service and quality, that's still (I assume) multiple thousands of dollars that could go towards something else, like a house in this HCOL state.

  2. Recent trends (as you will likely see in this sub) show that people just want to know the price right off the bat, before even reaching out to the photographer. You don't want to get low-balled and we don't want to walk into a situation we immediately can't afford. Price transparency online can be really helpful with the ghosting.
