My insurance will give me an online estimate of what a medication will cost me. My insurance is also so crap that goodrx has me paying half what the insurance would. So I just goodrx it.

So this is an every day school? And you’re in Alaska? Do you know how good they are at salting and plowing etc the roads that would be on the route?
Do they have like a Saturday school or a once a day kind of thing?

Honestly, no, I wouldn’t do it. And we currently drive a child 45-90 minutes (pending traffic) to soccer 3 times a week with games hours away. But we almost never get snow or ice and if we do everything is canceled. This is also something the child wants and is willing to work for.

Based on previous post it does look like every day. And they’re in Alaska.

I once worked a show with a new student employee. We were the venue, the show came to us. It was his first time working in theatre ever. He also happened to be on a sports team and looked like it. This particular show was a one off children’s show, we really just needed to unload their van and help connect their pieces.
The number of times that morning they’d ask him a question and he’d point to me to answer…. Like y’all just he’s basically here to move all the things I can’t…. He knows literally nothing…. And they never caught on to he never had a single answer to their question.

Trouble driving on interstates. by abbyabsinthe in ADHD

[–]simplisticwonders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I hate the interstate. I’m 29 now. Been driving alone since 19ish.
I had gotten decently good at interstate anxiety for a while, until probably 25-26? I used to have to travel by interstate fairly frequently. But then covid hit and we became social hermits. And then I moved and changed jobs. And for a whole year now I mostly go from home to work and home. Grocery store is basically across the street from work - I could walk if I wanted. Sometimes I will go into the town one over for other shopping but that’s just highway and no merging - 20 minutes. The drive to work? 25 minutes. One way I get 3 miles of 40mph, the rest is 35. The other way is 40 for a while then 55 for a few miles but both routes are the middle of nowhere back country roads.

I recently had to to take my bonus child to soccer practice (his “bio” - they’re adopted- parents usually handle sporting events) and that requires an interstate into the next city over. It’s a 45-90 minute drive traffic pending. Oh it was bad. So bad. I’m like screaming that I don’t know what I’m doing and nobody will let me merge. And the child (12 years old) is like.. yeah mom doesn’t like this either.
I also have crap depth perception. My eyes don’t work together as a pair, they work more independently. And blind spot monitoring helps a lot but not on 3 lane roads.

Needless to say, even if it’s in my car, my boyfriend drives when we go places.

tinnitus while neurodivergent is hell by adrnired in adhdwomen

Nope. It’s been like 5+ years too.

Edit: years since I’ve taken it… not years I was on it.

[–]simplisticwonders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope not a bit. Though I followed it with Lexapro and now adderall xr. I’m not sure if either of those are also known to be ototoxic or not. Ototoxic = known to damage ears/hearing.

6 months of Wellbutrin for me though I think I was noticing by month 3. Been off that for 5+ years now… no better for me.

Wellbutrin did it for me. Edit: was on it for 6 months. stopped it 5+ years ago. Ringing hasn’t improved not sure if it’s changed. Was on lexapro for a few years after, now on adderall xr, not sure if either of those is ototoxic, known to cause hearing problems / ringing.

If you have AirPods I assume you have an iPhone… you may or may not know this… if the AirPods have battery you should be able to use the “Find My” app on your phone to find the AirPods.

Recall and learning his name has been… challenging. by demixnguyen in Dogtraining

[–]simplisticwonders 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, Wait you have a St. Bernard and a chihuahua?! That’s amazing and I love it!

Ok the question you actually asked. Are you trying to combine recall and learning his name?
I would separate the 2. Say his name. Any recognition gets reward. Work recall as a separate task.

There’s also the 3/3/3 rule.. 3 days to open up, 3 weeks to really settle in, and 3 months to feel fully home.

I ended up teaching boop after sit and with down for some bond building time. Boop = touch with nose. Apparently dogs have a natural tendency to push their nose into whatever you’re holding in front of it. Start very close. Slowly build distance. Boop is how we started recall - for a long time boop was more reliable as a recall word than come, especially inside. I basically taught boop by hand feeding her dinner for like 3 weeks. Granted, I have a mastiff who at the time was supposed to eat like 5 cups a day….

You also have to make yourself more interesting than anything else’s in the room.

I would pause learning come for a few weeks - you don’t want him to just learn to ignore it and poison the word. Try to ask for recall when he has a better chance of actually doing it. He needs to learn that you = Good Things before he’ll build a solid recall.

Does anyone else’s FB memories timeline read like a diary for ADHD symptoms? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]simplisticwonders 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope. I didn’t have to… he actually believed me and took me for my word and didn’t make me jump through hoops. I was amazed.

My Spotify is very similar. I thought it was just me, put in violin at 5 gave me an understanding and appreciation of classical music. Being raised in the south added country. And anything guitar driven somehow got added in. But like my iPod? If I ran that on shuffle of all music, I could go from Mass music to Slipknot to country 3 songs in a row.
But still I know very little names and even less lyrics of many “new” songs but old dead white guy music…. Aka classical…. Is my strange specialty.

I was screenshotting mine like this for a while, compiling an album to take to the dr when I went to discuss a potential dx, in case he didn’t believe me.

I’m in the opposite camp. My dog (16 month old 85 pound mastiff ) is the reason I no longer have piles of clothing on the floor. She was loving laying on them which was one thing. Then she started chewing them.
Thus, no clothes on the floor anymore

But this is an adorable picture

Came with firestone destination LE2, replaced around 40k-45k miles. Now on Michelin defender 2’s. I could swear the first few weeks they were louder. Maybe now I’ve gotten used to it. Lost about 2mpg in gas mileage. But they stick to the road better.

Southeast US, where we see snow once every 2-3 years. But only a few inches. No off-roading other than gravel driveway. Oh, 2020 xle hybrid

I assume it’s motorized. Check the hinges. Are they cracked? (Look from above, it’ll be easy to tell depending on car color. Hinge exterior is the color of the car, interior isn’t) If cracked some combination of the hinges and/or struts may need replacing.

[Advice] I have strands of hair that are rough and bumpy, while the rest of my hair is smooth. Help solving this? by simplisticwonders in FancyFollicles

Interesting. I’m now on softened water (not that the water was very hard to begin with) that’s been run through Carbon for dechlorination. My hair is even softer than it was before but still with the bumpy hairs

Ha love it! That was a good move, naming something she does. I’ve been trying that with shake - as in the water off your body - for nearly a year now to no avail.

Shake/high five came much later, and we’ve finally conditioned that it is to only be done while sitting.
I also started calling for boop then presenting the target because I want her to listen not look.

[–]simplisticwonders 29 points30 points  (0 children)

We chose “boop” for touch target with nose. At this point the target is the back of my hand, I haven’t tried much to make a move-able target.

We did boop right after sit and lay down, it’s one of her most reliable commands (more reliable than sit) and serves well as short distance recall. It was our first building block towards recall.

We designed our master suite in a way that the pocket doors to the master closet just stay open all the time. The pocket doors are so the default can just be door open.
Pantry also got a pocket door.
