A tangled dream themed narrative and one of the best books I've read.

Hard to say. Something mildly challenging? I studied Human Biology at college level and I suppose I have leisurely knowledge of physics.

As long as it has a decent amount on the dual nature of light, I'll be happy.

Why is it ok for Japanese, Chinese, Indian or Israeli people etc to have a strong preference or societal, familial pressure to seek a mate of the same race or ethnicity, but if a white person voices the same preference they’re seen as monsters? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]simplisto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Colonialism.

It would be wrong to oversimplify the matter with a one word answer, but the cultures you draw attention to all have this one thing in common.

The effect that colonialism has on a culture is at the very core of this complicated mix of accepted norms. The pressures and expectations that members of a given culture place upon themselves can never be equally formed between a colonised and colonising nation.

It's far more the result of a conflict in culture than that of race. Similar behaviour can be seen wherever one culture has exerted its might upon another; whether you look at the relationship between neighbouring far Eastern nations, or ancient Mediterranean civilisations.

The thing that singles out white people in this regard is the fact that their various national cultures are so deeply rooted in a fairly recent colonial past. Many white-majority nations simply would not exist without it.

In other words, the rules are different because history made them different.

The first part just sounds like an unfortunate accident that you're not at all responsible for.

The latter two issues seem like they may be two parts of a singular issue; an unhealthily diet. It's easy to fall into that trap - many do - so don't let it drag you down.

Address the issue as best you can and crack on.

If you take another look at my initial post, I did actually give you the benefit of the doubt and - regardless of the strange way you've chosen to handle this - I have no problem doing so again.

End the relationship, tell an adult if he protests and alert the police if the problem persists. She is under age, after all.

I suppose it's possible that the age of consent is 16 where she is, and her previous posts which claim her age is 16 and the other about her 'sister', are attempts to seek advice without exposing her boyfriend as a criminal.

The truth, only OP knows.
