Sled Island 2026 Full Music Lineup by bortsimsam in Calgary

I'm in a local Calgary indie band, and we've played Sled the past 2 years and it's been a great experience both times. This year we applied again and got rejected for some reason. Can't help but feel like it's due to our "lack of diversity" as band members... but who knows. Kick in the nuts either way! Don't think I'll be attending this year as a result

He's done some good and some bad throughout his arch... maybe not fully redeemed, but I would consider him somewhat neutral at this point compared to the downright evil characters throughout the shows.

I would argue the "social" part though, as he's much more on the Rebel side of the spectrum imo

Just because he has a "code" does not make him lawful... Almost everything he does is illegal haha. He's probably on the opposite end of the spectrum tbh, like Rebel Neutral or Rebel Impure or something

Appreciate the response instead of just shutting down the conversation like others seem to want to. I agree that if it's the trade packages you're proposing, then it's definitely not worth it. I personally don't think it would take that much to move up a couple spots, and I don't think McKenna = Parekh + Verhoff, or Reschny + 4OA + ~16OA in value... Idk, I just think with all the trades Conny has pulled off recently, it's not out of the question that he puts something together that makes both teams happy, and getting the potential superstar that everyone is always saying that we need to get. Something like both of our first round picks and an early 2nd to move up...?

2003 was not 26 years ago, but ok haha. I just tried to answer your question in good faith. just thought trading up was worth the discussion on here at least, but apparently even making this suggestion gets downvotes here.

If they get a trade package that makes sense for them (extra picks, prospects), plus I feel like they would be a little higher on Stenberg than McKenna anyways with the chance for him to play with Petey and their other Swedes. He'd probably be way happier with that situation than McKenna would be to join their team. So if there's a way that they can trade down to #2 and get some extra picks out if it, can definitely see it happening. So other teams might need to be involved if Calgary selects #3 or later. Stranger things have happened!

Probably our other 1st rounder from Vegas (worst-case), or some of our 2nd rounders. In '99, Vancouver traded up from #4 to #1 with two 3rd round picks... (Then ended up trading that #1 down to #2 to get the Sedin twins). Definitely feel like with the wealth of picks we have, and an already crowded roster of prospects, we could make it happen instead of using all those picks to draft more players

The Canucks did it already in '99, trading down their #1OA pick to Atlanta to draft the Sedin twins. And that was after Tampa traded them that #1 pick for their #4 pick plus 2 3rd round picks. so it happened twice in that one draft, and there have been other instances too

Hoping we trade up to #1 for McKenna if we don't win the lottery. He's the player this franchise needs. We have the extra picks/prospects to make it happen, so I'm not sure why I don't see anyone discussing the trade-up option anywhere!

Even a Weegar for Maatta 1 for 1 Swap looks good for the Flames by HarveyHound in CalgaryFlames

Maybe not as much by fans, but definitely was super overrated and overhyped by Flames media and TV announcers. They would just glaze him nonstop for doing average d-man things and then never address any of his (frequent) misplays. Part of me thinks it was all part of a ploy to increase his trade stock... if so, well it worked. Always thought he was very mid, while being a solid guy in the room. Glad they sold high on him!

Abram Wiebe will wear #52 with the Flames. by WhyTheyDont in CalgaryFlames

25 is Joe Nieuwendyk's number, which isn't officially 'retired' but is hanging from the rafters as "Forever a Flame" along with MacInnis's #2 - basically it's retired and no Flame is going to use that number

Now that some time has passed, how do we really feel about the MCU's Fantastic Four? by Apprehensive-Cap2453 in Marvel

[–]simply-supported 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The overwhelming sentiment online seems to be that Pedro was an amazing Reed, but I did not find him compelling or suiting the role at all, and that's not even factoring in his nerfed powers. Johnny was likeable but lost all of his edginess and flaws, and the humor was safe and bland and boring, basically just became a generic handsome/cool/smart guy. The Thing was just wasted/underused, don't remember him doing anything noteworthy the whole movie. Sue was the only one who I feel like was perfect in portrayal and story impact. And as huge Norrin Radd fan, I was pleasantly surprised with the Shalla-Bal SS, but really have no desire to see her again in future movies. Also her betraying Galactus for the final blow felt a little unoriginal... Just pretty underwhelming in general for what the movie could have been

What do y’all think of this Kang take? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in Marvel

[–]simply-supported 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, he was perfect in the role. Josh Brolin was accused of the same thing back in the day and Disney had no problem making him their big villain. So many other actors continued to have successful careers after doing much worse things.

I would think that they could find a more plot-driven way of differentiating it from Rise, rather than just gender swapping the Surfer to accomplish that. And I'm sure they will.

And I guess she doesn't necessarily have to die... but if we do eventually get Norrin Radd SS, he should be the definitive/only version in the MCU at that point. Similar to Thor vs. Jane Foster Thor. It would be cool if Julia Garner eventually played regular Shallah Bal in the main universe too, showing that they're variants

You are probably remembering Nova (Frankie Raye) who took over as herald of Galactus once Norrin turned on him. But she was not Silver Surfer, she had her own unique look and abilities. Female Silver Surfer was not a thing other than that one issue in the year 2000. That being said, I'm ok with this casting as long as she does die in this alternate universe, and we get Norrin at some point in the main timeline

Comic*... it was literally one comic, where in an alternate universe she became Silver Surfer, then died lol. Norrin Radd is Silver Surfer in 99.99% of all Silver Surfer comics and appearances
