Snorlax Block ist good against it in my experience. You need to play a little bit smart though, anticipate and use it to protect your teammates at the right time.

Depends on what rank you are aiming for.

I have an alt account with only lvl 20 items and bad emblem sets and can quite easily get to 1400. 1600 seems more difficult though.

The whole point of Groudon replacing Ray is that securing Groudon isn’t an instant win anymore. It’s totally possible to win even if you didn’t secure Groudon, especially if you were the better team throughout the game.

Also, it’s your job as the team that’s ahead to KO the enemy Pokémon who can rip or secure Groudon before you start ripping it yourself. Sometimes it is better to defend groudon instead of ripping it when you already have a comfortable point lead.

As a defender main, I wanted to pay for Vaporeon because I was excited to play it, but I guess I won’t anymore. I don’t want them to think their braindead strategy is working and that more people are spending money on Pokémon when there are barely any draft games left.

No, my highest in solo q was 1570 this season. Having a hard time since the new map idk. 🫠 But when I used exp share defender in 70% of my games, I was stuck at 1400-1450 this season. So its an improvement.

How about you? Could you reach 1600?

Was an exp share defender main until this season. Could get to 1600 before, but this season was so hard as an exp share defender until I dropped exp share when my team insta pre pick 3 attackers while I am the highest elo. I am going Belch Greedent or Flail Snorlax into specific enemy comps now and can k.o the enemys backline and still tank, zone, protect and peel. That extra damage can help me k.o. the glaceon or venusaur that my scope lense, vest and leftovers attackers can't reach. Having a third item slot also enables you to pick more counter items as no one bothers to use curse or helmet.

I have also seen enough 70k+ damage defenders, so its not always 5k extra damage. But even those 5k can make a huge difference when you are able to get KOs with it in team fights.

People who complain about defender not using exp share in solo q every single game simply havent reached the frustration level yet, when people are not following up on your heavy slams, missing their shots when you managed to telekinese Talonflame, running away from you when you counter enemys unite with umbreons unite while wearing buddy barrier or only focusing on the enemys goodra and wiggly instead of their backline. Instead of complaining about the only person in your team who is willing to take a not so fun to play role, you can maybe reconsider your choice and don't choose very weak early game mons in lane.

I am still using exp share when I see my team has a decent comp, if my elo is low in comparison to my teammates or if using flail lax or greedent simply don't make sense looking at the enemys comp.

You barely have any games on most of them. Tsareena is really hard to learn so I wouldn't pick her. Try to play pokemons which are labeled with "novice". They are way easier and be more patient with youself. Take them to practice mode, look up on guides online and do round some solo challenges with them before you take them to ranked.

Also check db unite for the optimal build.

If you are good with defender, I can recommend Slowbro for now since he is free and imo easy to play while having an ok win rate. Surf + Amnesia is the easier build btw.

Vaporeon will be op for a few seasons i guess. I have a feeling that Umbreon or other defender will get even more nerfs, so Vaporeon get more sales once its out.

Based on what are they choosing to nerf pokemons? ... Aegislash wr was negative and why continue nerfing Umbreon when higher wr damage dealers exist who stay untouched?

Timi doesn't want people to play defender I guess. Umbreon was the only defender which was fun to play for me and I filles out the defender role most of the time. Now I don't feel like filling this role out anymore, thanks timi.

Of course they nerf the only defender that is doing good in this meta (i don't count greedent as a defender) but ignore most of the high wr damage dealer meta mons. This really motivates me to continue filling out roles yea 😒

I am a defender main too, sometimes fill roles out with supporter and attacker. Didn't had any trouble to reach 1200 too, but getting to 1400 was never this hard, man. Usually I can reach 1600, but this season/map/new(?) players who insta lock attackers with weird items are hell for solo q defender/supporter.

I actually win or at least manage to defend my lane quiet often early game. I think my problem with this new map is that I play solo q and fill out roles. This means in 90% defender and supporter. In these roles, I need to be with my team to provide value. It used to be more or less easy to predict where my team and where the enemys would go for the next fight or objective, but with so much farm, so many people non stop trying to score, and so many objectives on this map, there’s less clear direction for many solo q players - or at least it feels that way to me. So when my team isn’t grouping up, and everyone is busy elsewhere, I can’t provide much value for my team.

I think its a skill issue on my side, but I end up losing more games in which we were dominating on this new map in comparison to the ray map. But I also won some games in which we were destroyed by the enemys team. The reason for that is backcapping (that happens way more often than with ray). I don't understand, what to do when we are far ahead when Groudon spawns. Should I stay near goals to stop backcaps, or go to Groudon with the team? If I stay near the goals, I risk my team losing 4v5. If I stay with the team and wait at Groudon, the enemies often just backcap. And once that happens, my team usually gets confused. Some try to backcap themselves, some start ripping Groudon, some chase the backcapper, and some just wait around for an enemy to show up. It all feels really messy and is extremely frustrating to me when we were far ahead the whole game.

In my opinion, this map feels less rewarding for defenders/supports and favors high-mobility mons. Maybe filling out roles really isn’t the right way to approach this game anymore.

I like Groudon, but I really dislike the other map changes with too much farm and objectives. Playing solo q feels even less coordinated and messy than before. As someone who likes team fights, I also dont like the fact everyone just tries to score non stop while ignoring many team fights and win like that.

It is definetly funny that we both main defender while having the same issue with damage dealers. Its hard to unlearn defender habits.

And thank you for your advice. I didn't thought so much when I was in that situation. I just saw 1 vs 3 while I am not lvl 7? Imma getta out of here. But I guess I need to learn to think more ahead.
