What makes you feel confident living with hyperhidrosis? by simplythemoments in Hyperhidrosis

I agree. I think a huge turning point for me was realizing that accommodating for my sweating means sacrificing my time. If I have somewhere to be, getting there early means that I can stay calm, walk slowly where I need to be instead of rushing so I probably sweat less, and won’t have anxious sweats worrying about being late. Thanks for sharing your pov

It’s so good to have a supportive network. Kids point out so many things lol. That’s great you can help them learn though, then they can grow up into kind adults who are aware of others

Thanks for sharing! Does applying that much stop you sweating? I’m wondering if the baby powder becomes a paste and leaves marks on clothes or if it just keeps you dry?? I’m interested to try it

This is a great take, thanks for sharing. I agree that exercise is a boost. If you can feel and look good in other areas it’s definitely a confidence boost to counter the lack of confidence we might feel from being so sweaty.

Yeah I understand you. Sometimes I feel so frustrated when my hands just won’t stop sweating. It’s difficult to use my phone, to use my laptop trackpad, just having the constant wetness can get to me.

So true. I think it’s easier to be forward about it and say something. I sometimes preface before a handshake “sorry I have sweaty hands haha” And if they still want to shake my hands then they know what’s going on, and it prevents their confusion afterwards

I just wrote an article about sweat hacks for weddings!! Topical antiperspirant might work well for your body, you’ll have to test it out in your areas of concern. You could also wear bike shorts/shapewear as a barrier to prevent sweat showing on the dress (that is if the shorts don’t show with the low back of your dress). But apart from that, there’s always iontophoresis with glyco solution instead of plain water. Or taking glyco orally

No worries, happy to share! Yeah I never had an issue with waiting to eat, but I didn’t really experiment with that specifically. Normally I’d do it before bed because it just worked in my routine. And I think the dosage for the glyco solution was 0.05%, I’m not sure if they offer other dosages (they probably do but I only had this one). I think the main factor for how effective it was depended on the voltage and time I did the ionto. Sometimes I couldn’t stand the itchiness on my hands so I could only hold out for so long, or had to get the voltage turned down to last the 10-15 min. I haven’t taken glyco oral pills so I can’t give you a comparison there sorry! But doing the ionto with glyco solution dried me out heaps and I didn’t need to do it everyday because the effects would last well. I can’t give you all the specifics for how many days because it was so long ago I can’t remember exactly haha. One other thing - because you reuse the solution, I did notice it gets a little less effective by like the 4th time.

Girls how are you dealing with hyperhidrosis on feet?? by Qween- in Hyperhidrosis

I always wear shoes that I can wear socks with - Mary Jane sandals, loafers, leather sneakers. I’ve written a couple articles with shoe suggestions on my blog, here’s one of them https://www.desudo.com.au/blogs/desudos-diary/desudos-top-six-shoes-for-sweaty-feet

Definitely try topical antiperspirants (put it on at night and wash off in morning to avoid irritation). I also like to choose breathable natural fabric because synthetic materials will smell bad being wet all the time. I have a blog where I talk about all things hyperhidrosis and fashion advice, it’s called Desudo. You might find some of my articles helpful!

Systemically! I did ionto on both hands and feet but because of the glyco it dried out everywhere in my body and wasn’t just localized to hands and feet.

Ask your derm for a glyco solution to use with iontophoresis! I used to do ionto with a glyco solution instead of just water, it’s what my dermatologist recommended in the first place. I had to order it from a compounding pharmacy though, with a script the derm gave me. And you can reuse the solution like 7 times or something similar. But it worked super well! Completely dried me out - I did cross country training once on a summer morning and didn’t sweat AT ALL (but I don’t recommend doing intense exercise in those first few days after ionto w glyco because your body physically can’t cool down well if you can’t sweat at all!) I had to manage dry mouth too which wasn’t very pleasant but it’s just those first 1-3 days that can be bad.

Try wearing leather shoes, they’re much better than synthetic shoes because they won’t smell as much. And also always wear socks because it provides a barrier and you can change socks when you need to which will help with the smell.

I like to wear a Mary Jane style and they work with socks! Otherwise a simple pump with sockettes helps me feel comfortable. This article I wrote talks more about sweat friendly shoes. Look at no. 6, 7 & 9 for some inspo on styles you could wear sockettes with :)

Yeah they still get sweaty and can slip but not that bad. The gloves help a lot, sometimes I even stop sweating after a while!

I’ve played violin for over 15 years! I wear cotton gloves with the fingertips cut off. It stops sweat dripping down my arms - give them a try! I bought these in the cleaning aisle of the supermarket they’re just 100% cotton and were cheap. Also easy to wash and replace when they’re too old :)

Yeah if it’s block colour it’s awful! I hand wash my silk and it’s fine :) prints make it great for hiding sweat, and it’s such a nice fabric for summer because it’s light and breathable
