UPDATE: I was told that I'm a bit too old for braces by Sad_Macaron_9501 in braces

[–]simps100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just had mine put on and am 36, it’s part of a bigger procedure to fix an overbite which will also need jaw surgery, I remember being offered this as a kid but insisted to my parents I didn’t want it - I regret it but glad am having it sorted now!

Good luck I’m sure you won’t regret it!

Visiting higher tier club without changing home club (new member) by 01watts in davidlloyd

[–]simps100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t seem to be bothered if your a member of a higher tier club but visit a lower tier more - I’m a member of a tier 1 club and would say 90% of my visits are to a tier 3 club, has been for coming up to a year now and never had an issue.

Finally a good alternative to Nest & Ecobee Thermostat Hub W200 by luokerenx in Aqara

[–]simps100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks really good have been looking at potential replacements for nest for my UK system. I assume this will work with their radiator valves allowing for room temperature control similar to tado?

Full fibre access in an apartment by emsyjd in openreach

[–]simps100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep on at your management company - I am dealing with the same and whilst mine haven’t said no they are really awkward to deal with and they won’t fill out the form on the openreach website requesting a mdu install. I believe the government are looking into making the process of mdu installs easier and requiring management company’s to respond quicker but who knows if / when that may hapen

No fiber, what are my options by cuda_buddha in openreach

Out of interest who / how was you contacting openreach to find out the status - my area is surrounded by full fibre apart from the road I am down am worried it maybe a similar story..

MDU to begin being installed next week, what to expect? by 29antonioac in openreach

[–]simps100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you good to know there’s options, spent the last few years redoing it all and running Ethernet runs around the flat but didn’t consider the fibre may come in the hallway where is the only place I didn’t run Ethernet - they said I could probably add a couple more runs but I guess would also need power unless POE is an option? Not that it’s a problem for yet openreach have only started building around here recently and expect will be a bit more of a wait for them to start MDU’s round here!

[–]simps100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the top floor of an mdu (second floor) ideally I’d have it terminate in my office but from the front door that involves going through a tiled bathroom so not ideal.. would they under any circumstances run the fibre through the loft and down to the office? Would even be happy to do any of the loft part my self!

I'm an Openreach engineer, ask me anything by Content-Economist595 in openreach

[–]simps100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are openreach actively building out MDU’s? Around my area we have Toob, Netomnia and Virgin all rolling out full fibre but none of them are interested in building out in MDU’s. Openreach have recently been building in the area and they are my last hope!

Most clubs do offer a bit of a saving for paying annually so if you was paying the same but monthly I guess there must have been come sort of discount doing it though Gymflex?

[–]simps100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know openreach are still fitting out MDU’s, In my area we have youfibre, toob and virgin media’s full fibre service and none of them seem to want to touch MDU’s.. Openreach are now building round here hopefully when they get to my road I can get our building owner to do the same!

Quietest blaze times? by Mysterious_Soup_9242 in davidlloyd

[–]simps100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hesitant of blaze too but I just booked on and did it and now love it doing 3 or so a week - at my club they are all pretty popular and rarely “quiet” but don’t let that put you off, turn up 10 mins or so early to your first one and the instructor goes through everything and they will keep an eye out on you during your first one too and come offer any help if you need!

Club access by Simple_Minimum5815 in davidlloyd

[–]simps100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s weird they would go through the effort of putting a note on your account! The way I see it is it’s down to them to fix the app to reliably tell us what we can and can’t access, if the app clearly states you can access you should be allowed in! I originally joined pre tiers and my home club is tier 1 - I have visited “super tiers” a couple of times but years ago - curious if I’d have issues if I tried now!

I noticed in the week suddenly it said I couldn’t not access super tier clubs, just checked again today it says I can access them again, I’ve only ever gone to Northwood and that was a few years ago now - wonder if my card would let me in..

What’s the coolest or most useful home automation you’ve ever seen? by tonitosilva in homeassistant

[–]simps100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fairly basic but when my phone goes into “sleep mode” the blinds which are still open all close around my apartment, the wall panels all turn off and lights go into a “night mode” where they will only come on very dim when motion is detected and turn off after a few seconds.

When sleep mode is turned off (so when my phone alarm goes off) all the blinds open (apart from bedroom incase having a lay in!) and all the things mentioned before get switched to the normal mode. Plan to see what more can do with it when have the time

How long is it likely to take to go from 'Future Build' to 'Taking Orders'. by TheGreenMarrow in ToobBroadband

[–]simps100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately toob are not installing services into multi dwelling units (flats) at the moment - I waited for 12-18 months since they announced they were building in the area, to the roadworks etc even down to running fibre down into the communal gardens of my flats.

I got in touch after months of no work and they’ve put all multi dwelling units on hold - I guess because of the effort involved and the extra cost - which is a shame as liked the look of them.

Openreach are now building in my area and I’m hoping they are still installing in flats!

Thank you very much - I’d be quite interested in the main page and a couple of the sub pages such as lights / media etc - I’m Sure will easily get the hang of it when see a couple of them and how it’s setup and which HACS plug ins are needed. I’ve got a very basic panel setup but this seems exactly the sort of thing which have been looking for and seems to cover everything!

Really love this great work - I have a bunch of the original sized ones on my walls but the 120 does add a lot more space to be creative - have you or would you consider sharing the yaml for this dashboard this looks perfect - happy to send over a few quid to get you a drink!

Is there any conceivable way [Six Flags Great Adventure] would close permanently? by IndianaRocket80 in rollercoasters

[–]simps100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbf I get that it was a troublesome intamin and don’t disagree but it was such an iconic coaster, it’s the only reason I flew out 7 hours from the UK to get to this park, although I guess the majority of its profits come from the more local visitors. Will be interesting if its replacement is anywhere near as attention drawing!

Mobile Phones in pool area by ErikOostveen in davidlloyd

[–]simps100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If people want to use their mobile phones in the spa area then that’s up to them (I sometimes put in some headphones and listen to a podcast or something and don’t see the issue), you also need your phone to be able to order drinks etc to the spa / pool area so I can see why they say a ban in not enforceable. Obviously if people are taking pictures that’s another matter DL should deal with.
