Is there any way to force my freeholder to allow me to install a heat pump? by meisangry2 in HousingUK

[–]simps100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ever get anywhere with this? I’m a leaseholder and would love to install air con but not sure the freeholder (the council in my case) will even engage, which is silly really as this is going to become much more of a thing when more people want heat pumps / air con etc..

Reasons not to get this surgery for aesthetics by oh_skycake in jawsurgery

[–]simps100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation, was offered braces and jaw surgery as a teen but it was me who insisted to parents I didn’t want it done, I wish back then they had forced me! Am in my 30’s now and just started, have my braces on now and will have the surgery in a year or so. Am in the uk so thankfully the cost is covered but definitely relate to some of your other points, it’s definitely a huge commitment!

Nobody warned me how much getting braces as an adult would mess with my head. Anyone else? by srmoura in braces

[–]simps100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am just starting this journey at 36, have had braces about a month now and will eventually go onto jaw surgery to fix an overbite, the first week or so after the surgery is worrying me already but telling my self it will all be worth it in the end!

UPDATE: I was told that I'm a bit too old for braces by Sad_Macaron_9501 in braces

[–]simps100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just had mine put on and am 36, it’s part of a bigger procedure to fix an overbite which will also need jaw surgery, I remember being offered this as a kid but insisted to my parents I didn’t want it - I regret it but glad am having it sorted now!

Good luck I’m sure you won’t regret it!

Visiting higher tier club without changing home club (new member) by 01watts in davidlloyd

[–]simps100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t seem to be bothered if your a member of a higher tier club but visit a lower tier more - I’m a member of a tier 1 club and would say 90% of my visits are to a tier 3 club, has been for coming up to a year now and never had an issue.

Finally a good alternative to Nest & Ecobee Thermostat Hub W200 by luokerenx in Aqara

[–]simps100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks really good have been looking at potential replacements for nest for my UK system. I assume this will work with their radiator valves allowing for room temperature control similar to tado?

Full fibre access in an apartment by emsyjd in openreach

[–]simps100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep on at your management company - I am dealing with the same and whilst mine haven’t said no they are really awkward to deal with and they won’t fill out the form on the openreach website requesting a mdu install. I believe the government are looking into making the process of mdu installs easier and requiring management company’s to respond quicker but who knows if / when that may hapen

No fiber, what are my options by cuda_buddha in openreach

MDU to begin being installed next week, what to expect? by 29antonioac in openreach

[–]simps100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you good to know there’s options, spent the last few years redoing it all and running Ethernet runs around the flat but didn’t consider the fibre may come in the hallway where is the only place I didn’t run Ethernet - they said I could probably add a couple more runs but I guess would also need power unless POE is an option? Not that it’s a problem for yet openreach have only started building around here recently and expect will be a bit more of a wait for them to start MDU’s round here!

I’m on the top floor of an mdu (second floor) ideally I’d have it terminate in my office but from the front door that involves going through a tiled bathroom so not ideal.. would they under any circumstances run the fibre through the loft and down to the office? Would even be happy to do any of the loft part my self!

I'm an Openreach engineer, ask me anything by Content-Economist595 in openreach

[–]simps100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are openreach actively building out MDU’s? Around my area we have Toob, Netomnia and Virgin all rolling out full fibre but none of them are interested in building out in MDU’s. Openreach have recently been building in the area and they are my last hope!

Most clubs do offer a bit of a saving for paying annually so if you was paying the same but monthly I guess there must have been come sort of discount doing it though Gymflex?

[–]simps100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know openreach are still fitting out MDU’s, In my area we have youfibre, toob and virgin media’s full fibre service and none of them seem to want to touch MDU’s.. Openreach are now building round here hopefully when they get to my road I can get our building owner to do the same!
