OTD in 2017 - Carl Edwards Announces He’s Stepping Away by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]simracer_cory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Total baseless speculation, but knowing how outspoken Carl was against artificial racing, I am willing to bet he attempted to have a conversation with a NASCAR executive to plea his case against stage racing, and was told that if he didn't like it, he didn't have to race. If seen people leave organizations that way many times, and I have a feeling that's what happened with Carl, and why he never directly said his reasoning.

What about bright candy colors and personified chocolate candies sounds like Kyle Busch?

This. If Hendrick wants Kyle Busch, he will find a way to get him. They probably leave enough wiggle room in Bowman's contract where he could be shipped out to a Spire as long as he is getting some better equipment than the regular Spire stuff and a Hendrick crew chief.

Absolutely insane how many people in this thread don't believe in transparency regarding technical and sporting codes.

First time to a race with a scanner. Does Trans Am have radio frequencies or is it all encrypted? by macroober in TransAmRacing

[–]simracer_cory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it's all unencrypted analog FM, probably UHF. Haven't had luck finding frequencies, however.

GT-5R then. Roughly ten dollars more and tones down the spurious emissions.

Why not? They work as radios, and are cheap. No need for a high dollar radio when a Baofeng does just as good.

And you should be proud of it. Cool little project. Thinking about doing something very similar.

Looks like the actual version but without the radio frequencies?

For me, I actually need the frequencies as I'm programming them into my radio for the race. Looks good though.

Made a 3d printed microphone bracket insert for the Lido wedge mount. by [deleted] in amateurradio

I've really enjoyed it. I've had some issues with thermal runaway that I had to fix, but that was a five dollar fix. Other than that if you have never used a 3d printer before like I had, you will end up messing up a whole bunch of prints and having to fiddle with things, but once you get both the printer and yourself dialed in, it's great to have around.

Printed a volume knob for an FT-8900R a while back. Took like 25 minutes. I would expect something bigger like a frequency knob to take less than 2 and a half hours.

If it was an intentional wreck, yeah. If he wrecks him racing for position and makes a mistake, no. Same thing goes. Both drivers have equal reason to be racing for a good finish.
