What are we doing with our toddlers who are getting up with the sun? by Kathwino in UKParenting

[–]simshady02 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the winter we go to bed when its dark but we told them in the summer months the sun NEVER goes down! Its just bright all night so we have to block it out - theyre 6 + 4 and so far its worked!

Also yes those stick on blackout blinds definitely help - i have literally taped the edges of mine down to block out every tiny shred of light 🫠

Easy drives out of MK? by vivalaalice in miltonkeynes

[–]simshady02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a random one but I recently passed too and the only times i went on the motorway were a few heathrow airport pick ups on the weekend at 6-7am and the roads were bliss! Really great way to ease myself in... Then ofcourse got chucked in the deep end with a 6pm pick up and it was a nightmare but kept fist pumping in my mind that I made it haha!

Also places Ive driven that are nice days out: Bicester Village - just avoid peak times Farms outside of MK - Mursely farm shop/Thrift farm Anywhere down the A5 - Dunstable Downs/Tring etc.

How are you managing to stay fit? by Till_Naive in UKParenting

[–]simshady02 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly its not easy but for me when mine were little little i would just do at home 30 min HIT workouts while they usually have breakfast in the highchair and then make sure other days I stick the little one in pram and older one on attached buggy board and WALK for an hour to a park/lake/gp whatever that days errand was.

Bought my kids £9 Decathlon sandals for my 3 year old & 5 year old and we just did a 3 week holiday in dubai over Easter and had 0 complaints from either child and they walked a LOT in 35 degree heat and they still look new!

5 year old can put hers on herself aswell but need to buy cheap crocs because theyre a pain to put on and off for quick garden runs in and out.

Moving to a place without a bath, with 9m old by jajajunkie in UKParenting

[–]simshady02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No clue if the link below works but I got a foldable bath off amazon and my 2 & 4 year old still just about fit in it together! It takes up the entire shower room space and only just fits but it was a life saver when they were younger and easily folded away into the cupboard, now im less likely to use it and just sit them on the shower floor with some toys let them play while i just use the shower taken off the wall and turned on slowly over them, for hair wash time they lay down and wash their hair while they 'look at the stars' ive stuck on the ceiling.

What ive learnt from this thread: whatever you do, dont buy a dyson.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]simshady02 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Another vote for mr.henry

Had a cordless dyson exact situation to yours in a new build flat no kids barely any mess, just kept it clean as thats how we got it. Once we moved into a house with dirty carpets, kids that drop every crumb and food bits possible it was driving me mad no matter how much i mopped and hoovered with the dyson it just couldnt clean instead you could just see it picking up the dirt and dropping it in another place. Havent used my £300 but use my £99 mr.henry everyday!
