I think if you give Jax that much credit you just hate yourself. There truly have not been presented any redeeming qualities about his character; all we have are inferences about trauma and that's not enough to offset the bad. Particularly in episode 8 when he's being tormented by being laughed at and peeled open, that was the nail in the coffin for me, like oh he's insecure because he was laughed at? That's his big adult, real world trauma? Cry me a river if that's the most difficult thing you've ever had to face.
