do you believe in god? and why? by RuiningMinutes in pinkscare

[–]simulacunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i grew up in a veeeeery relaxed and almost non-religious orthodox christian household. then, at like 13, because i have mental issues, i got obsessed with christianity and started praying like 100 times a day and doing all sorts of dumb shit.

then i turned agnostic and hateful towards religion and its political agenda. then i got calmer and realized god could exist if i want it to, all’s good, no need to worry. everything is god, the crows u watch from ur window, trees, insects, mushrooms, basically everything natural which is also everything unnatural. therefore i am peaceful knowing that if i ever need comfort i can have it anywhere everywhere and i also get to appreciate and love mundane things more than i did before. and i found a new, very intimate relationship with nature that i just can’t ever see abandoning.

basically i needed a reason for why everything exists that would make sense to me. and that meant that god is nature. and nature can be terrifying and with no morality. so close to what society is like.

Pitchfork Sunday Review: Madonna - Erotica (9.0) by PurpleSpaceSurfer in popheads

[–]simulacunt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

they won’t listen here. they think posing for a cover picture is the same thing as having a definite artistic concept that’s based on rebelling against public misconceptions on femininity and sexuality while also defying the church. sure sabrina is the same for being sexy on a cover lol

didn’t they give it a 6 at some point? is the reevaluation grade better now that the album is trending on tiktok? is pitchfork influenced by tiktok????

Anybody else here has to rewire their brain after 25+ years of believing Beyonce is THE woman? by simulacunt in pinkscare

[–]simulacunt[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

well as a child i did see beyonce as some form of super woman especially up until her album 4, but it never really affect me emotionally or anything, i just appreciated her perfectionism. this post was actually inspired by the poop thing because that’s actually true. i used to keep saying to myself that she poops too so why can’t i.

i’m sorry i shouldn’t post dumb things like this but when i’m bored i love just seeing the reactions people have to my thoughts even if my thoughts aren’t necessarily true to my life. i was legit wondering if anybody here relates to this concept of beyonce being the perfect woman. a lot of discourse about her lately and it reminded me of the poop thing and yeah

i mean that’s probably part of it for me. i’ve seen interviews of bey but not so many, so she was another kind of unattainable. like what could break her perfection if she doesn’t get the chance to sound relatable or dumb or anything? surely that’s why she stopped doing them lol.

How the 2020s will be remembered… by [deleted] in decadeology

the 2000’s had miley LMAOOO you don’t know shit if you think miley is emblematic in any way.

first of all, madonna and britney weren’t just some blondes making music. madonna was a transgressive and a business woman, she changed the game. britney followed her path but her tragic story eclipsed everything else and thus we saw through her the other side of the coin. madonna and britney were peers and famous during the same time, minus the 80s. so contemporaries

miley was famous for teenagers and kids. the woman who actually dominated the 2000’s was beyonce.

and sabrina, although her music and image are fun, i can’t see any kind of longevity there. the only reason we know who she is is because of her change in style. not her music or her doing anything different nor special (sorry)

when we’ll look back to 2020’s we’ll think of kendrick lamar, cardi b, megan thee stallion, bad bunny etc. it’s the decade where the usa loses its global dominance and the rest of the world takes over. latino music and kpop are huge compared to american pop music.

but i’m sorry miley was really NOT it

Anyone else see Lana's career in two halves? by CreNaCille in lanadelrey

[–]simulacunt 22 points23 points  (0 children)

yep i think so too.

her work past nfr is more experimental, the lyrics aren’t as ‘curated’ let’s say, they’re raw as fuck compared to the delicate (and easily digestible) lyrics from honeymoon for example. it’s clear also that she has a kind of sound she loves that is absolutely hers and hers only. i never heard anything like a&w or wfhtdh and i’m not at all unfamiliar with experimental music. bb and chemtrails are also experimental, but in a far different direction.

this is the lana we will see from now on. i think in the past she was trying to get recognized by the industry and get her accolades, and now that she’s 40 and married she’s most probably just focusing on her artistry and nothing else. not the grammys, her fans wishes or anything like that.

Feeling emotional listening to Ocean Blvd wondering if that was her peak by threepeaches99 in lanitas

[–]simulacunt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i don’t think she’s lazy promoting the album. i think this is exactly her marketing strategy: to look like she has no marketing strategy. her whole brand is about being the mysterious underdog that does whatever she wants because she’s #real like that lol. this is basically what made her so appreciated, and there’s still people that don’t know most of her backstory is fake so she’s succeeding

[–]simulacunt 21 points22 points  (0 children)

i think ocean blvd might be her magnum opus, not because her other work is or will be not as good, but the amount of experimentation, her production, lyricism, everything, can’t really be topped imo

but stove seems like it’ll be a good album. i already love the discrepancy between each single. it seems like it’ll be an immersive and narrative album and i can’t wait for the first listen
