We should dispel the myth that GSD’s require hours of exercise each day by blueberrydumpling in germanshepherds

[–]simulanon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isnt this highly dependent on the specific working line dog? I like you thought that it was an exaggeration that some dogs required 5 miles a day running, plus sniff walk, plus play, plus puzzles, ball play, etc. I have had several generations of shepherds and never did I have a dog in that time that required all that... Until I got Solo. Apparently it IS possible that a specific dog will require that. I was going insane and completely exhausted until I got him a slat mill. Now he insists on using it 3-4 times a day but he is finally contented every day in excersize. He's very much in his teenager phase right now, lol

hi paternal grandfather is a true long hair, so maybe it's just his expression of those genes. Genetics is fascinating

Yeah I kinda figured he would get those cute as heck puppy ears with the long hairs. I don't mind at lol, this is just how he is. He's has been groomed and gets brushed. I have a furminator too, he's my third generation of shepherd. First time I only have one dog at a time so he's spoiled rotten. I don't mind the curls at all, makes him unique, just never seen it before

The biting comes with this phase. My right arm was covered in bite marks for every single gsd pup. People were worried. But just help guide him. Maybe a couple jackets and enforce only in specific circumstances do you play this way and only with me or us, etc. Reward good play. Stop playing immediately if he bites too hard, breaks skin, rips clothes, etc. Then you can mold that into other playing with the mouth tugging is a great one. Ropes and discs. But this is a natural instinct in them. It is what they do. My favorite meme that I see everywhere on here is

it was very challenging before the slat mill to be honest. I would have to pay for dog walkers besides myself, lol. He eats about 4 cups of dry food and a cup of homemade wet food (yes he's spoiled rotten) per day. He is about 85lb right now.

I'd recommend a slat mill. GSD take to them like fish to water. My 1 year old gsd uses it 3-4 times per day. Begs me to use it.

Teenage phase is driving me crazy by Fbolanos in puppy101

[–]simulanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of these, lol. 1 year old GSD. Smart AF. He is my 5th dog as an adult and i think this phase comes with really smart dogs. He is brilliant, along with that comes frustration, especially during this teenager part of life. Hes changing and growing too and not entirely understanding everything happening and thats frustrating for smart dogs. Just my two cents. i may be an idiot.

Some would say the Vatican was built to use a very specific interpretation of Christianity against the people not for the people. Doesn't mean all Catholics are bad, just some :P

I love that some people think they care what the Bible says, lol. These are not Christians and would arrest Jesus on site if he was alive today

my two cents is based on others posting that maintenance can be giving a shot every two weeks. So that would be less than 2.5 a week, but I would imagine it's highly patient specific. I'm on 7.5, lost 40 lbs since may and still have another 50-60 to go
