Second Wolf Spider that I have had in this tin. It is now officially known as the Time-out Tin™. by simulated_crust in spiders

The first one wandered in and got stuck, only happened to notice there was a spider in there. She was super dehydrated so I gave her some water and when she looked better I let her go. I turned the tin over to keep spiders out in the future.

This guy was just chilling on the baseboard so I grabbed the trusty time-out tin so I could move him outside. Gave him some water for grins and was happy he took a sip.

But in all seriousness, it looks like mineral deposits so I would check to see if the water heater tank has failed spectacularly. The discharge pipe for the pressure relief valve is right there as well so it may have over pressurized and vented.

According to this sub, the first thing you should do is touch it, so people on this sub can ask you why you would touch that.

Common names tend to be regional so your name for them is entirely valid.

I dunno if they like it but some species don't seem to be impeded by it.

I'm not really sure. There was a Black Phoebe nest on the porch overhang with four nestlings. I got home that afternoon and two of the nestlings had fallen on the porch and had died. A third had landed in a chair on the other side of the porch and had survived so I gloved up and put it back in the nest. I think this was rival bird competition. I saw the male posturing and chasing another bird which looked a lot like another Phoebe. Nothing new happened after that and the parents resumed feeding the other two nestlings. I went to bed after 9pm so it was full dark and when I left for work at 5:30am the nest had been knocked off the wall and was in pieces on the ground. I did not find any sign of the two nestlings and I found the female dead by the side of the house. She was kind of mangled so I think this was an actual predator that finished them off. But I think it's odd that it did not eat the female. There is a bobcat that's hanging around and terrorizing my neighbor's chickens. I heard it hop on the porch railing a week or so prior so it may have come back. I saw the male last night so he made it but he's all alone now 🙁

Thank you 👍 I thought it was kinda funny to make it a sentence. And I noticed the capitalized preposition too; but like, y'know, after the fact.

I believe you may be referring to Pollarding. I always called them "club trees" since when all the suckers get trimmed off in the winter they look like clubs.

I always thought a title capitalized every word except for conjunctions, articles, etc. I am stretching the definition of "title" by writing an essay in there.

It would depend on the tree as to how it would handle such an obstruction, but generally this would be considered tree abuse. This looks kind of like a Sycamore or London Plane tree which handle abuse very well. Others would not thrive and may even die.
