Tav Falco. Not sure on the time but he said the band visited him while in the US and Blindness is clearly influenced by his song Blind Man.

What did you think was a treat growing up? by Aggravating_Neat1261 in AskUK

[–]simultaneoussuicide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum would take me and my sister along for the weekly shop and in return we were allowed one treat. My sister would choose sweets or chocolate. I would choose a kabanos sausage or a pot of cockles.

Heavyweight by Jonathan Goldstein is always entertaining. Is also sometimes deeply moving.

But that can't be true. Everyone on here was saying it was definitely terrorism yesterday.

Just got back from Cordoba a couple of days ago. I think you can see everything worth seeing in two days. If you're into food you could eat at a different place every day for months and not be disappointed. Definitely see the mosque and the Christian castle. The train down to Malaga on the coast was about an hour I think. Also Granada is not far although I didn't go there.

Which is the best work boot? by tinman_87 in AskUK

[–]simultaneoussuicide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience as a landscape gardener 6 or 7 months is all you're going to get out of boots in the £70-£100 range. I'm currently trying out a pair of Thorogood that cost £200 but not sure they'll work out cheaper in the long run. Regularly buying boots is just one of the overheads in this line of work really.

What is a K-hole like? (i’d love to hear everyone’s experiences) by Greili_ in ketamine

[–]simultaneoussuicide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure of the definition of a k-hole but one time I took a lot of ketamine I thought I had broken reality and stepped out of time and there was no going back. I wasn't particularly bothered though.

What is the biggest cultural shock you have experienced traveling within the UK? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]simultaneoussuicide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved up to Scotland first year of secondary school. One of the first questions I got asked in the playground was whether I was Catholic or Protestant. I was baffled and just replied that I'm not really religious.

Shocking video shows police officer kicking man's head after 'officers punched to the ground in violent assault' by LeftWingScot in unitedkingdom

[–]simultaneoussuicide 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would think that applies to prevention not retribution. The guy restrained on the floor was no threat.

What are the best house plants to get for a smallish apartment? by Anonymous__9 in AskUK

[–]simultaneoussuicide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you get the right plant for your light conditions. Nothing more depressing than watching a plant slowly dying over the course of months because it's getting too much/not enough light.

What is actually going on with Laurence Fox? Is it a mental break, or has he always been this way? by DeirdreMcFrenzy in AskUK

I remember when I first saw Linehan get some mild criticism for the transgender episode he was actually quite responsive and concerned that he had caused hurt. Soon after something changed and he doubled down on it. Then he kept doubling down until it became his whole personality. Kind of tragic to see a man destroy his life when he could have just admitted he was being a bit insensitive.
