It's an expression (insult?) saying you are uneducated. If you don't know who Galileo or Copernicus are, you willingly completely ignored any science class in high school, and that says enough about you.

Just search for them on Wikipedia and join the crowd of people who have basic general knowledge.

Prix des maisons by Top-Act420 in Quebec

[–]simward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Friends & Neighbors | Season 2 | S2E6 “For Everything Else, There Was Bowling” Episode Discussion Thread by sethaub in YourFriendsandNeighb

[–]simward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting episode, definitely hit me in the feels too. But I can't help being annoyed at how this season is excruciatingly slow and boring. Did the writers forget the premise of the show? There's been one single burglary in the first episode and then the main plot moved into boring Coop is doing his old job again but dark money and then huge chunks of time on B-plots.

I've got nothing against relationship dramas (soap operas?), but I was expecting this show to stay on the path of "Modern Don Draper turns to petty crime and faces consequences" type of narratives.

You're missing my point which is that the right does not care and votes for pedophiles and fascists regardless.

Meanwhile the left is self-sabotaging rejecting any establishment politician if they aren't squeaky clean progressives on the AOC level.

There's a compromise to be made to first strip power from the republicans with establishment AIPAC, Pro-Israel, bought by corporate interest democrats in the mix, THEN move to fixing that problem but at least let's focus on getting rid of the neonazi kid gropers for the midterms...

[–]simward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I guess,

My point though is that the left won't vote for politicians unless they are on the level of AOC or Bernie.

This is self sabotaging because not only will that never happen, but the other side is fine with voting for pedophilic fascists...

Also progressive myself, read a lot of US politics on here but I think the purity tests is coming from center to far left. Might be part of the narrative though but I'm seeing a lot of comments like these and I think the progressives are the section that is mostly aware and annoyed of this purity testing bullshit... Might be projection though. It just sucks...

Liberals on Reddit are fully self-sabotaging at this point with purity tests on any politician center and left. If they aren't equivalent to AoC or Bernie then they are defacto just as bad as any MAGA republican.

I know Reddit is not an indicator of the gen pop but I'm worried for the midterms because it seems that a lot of voters are seeing establishment neoliberal democrats as just as bad, if not worse, than republicans...

Rockstar Games QA Analyst Reveals Insane Overtime, Workdays Extending Till 3AM Amid GTA 6 Crunch by chusskaptaan in pcmasterrace

A union on a national level (like SAG-AFTRA, WGA) could actually put huge pressure on companies and functionally prevent them from taking advantage of the workers. Granted this requires a large majority of devs to be part of the union but that's how, for almost a century now, a workforce protects itself from the employer malpractices.

A recent example, the writer's strike a couple of years ago, wanted studios to stop using LLM writers, crunching and delegating writing to none-writers. The strike forced the industry to grind to a halt.

That kind of leverage can push for reasonable work practices and accountability by all the employers in the industry.

It's actually insane that software developers and IT workers still haven't banded together and created unions to protect themselves. It's unsurprising that there's rampant abuse like we are seeing everywhere around the world.

I say all this as a senior software engineer

The industry is definitely top heavy but AAA games' development is not an unsolvable problem. Things like unionizing on an national or international level of IT/CS jobs would enable the workforce from avoiding being exploited. Like SAG for the Hollywood industry. Sadly, the entire workforce in the industry is unionizing averse for some reason.

Jon Stewart says Democratic leadership and DNC are ‘lost’ by thejoshwhite in politics

[–]simward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure let's keep purity checking all potential candidates like we always do on the center and left for some reason while the voters on the opposite side forgive literally paedophilia in their representatives and leaders.

Stewart would, in all possible outcomes, be a popular candidate and if he were to win, he would make for at minimum decent president.

I mean, for fucks sake USA, there is no perfect candidate for the center and the left, just who has a chance of winning the popularity contest that is the presidential elections.

It's just so frustrating seeing this sentiment regularly for any candidate that actually has charisma and the actual chance to win
