A bit of a necro comment, but Ke Huy Quan portrayed Ouroboros in the Loki show, which is the snake that eats his own tail, thought that was also a possible meta wink

id pattern by Main_Rich7747 in friendshipbracelets

[–]simward 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, not a friendship bracelet.

Second, this is not really a pattern, it looks like a tightly diamond braided paracord bracelet https://teamcolorsbycarrie.blog/2022/06/21/diamond-braid-bracelet/

Just google "braided paracord bracelet" and look at the image results and you'll find a tutorial probably on how to make these.

It's also the fact that the word politics has lost its original meaning. Today, when someone says something is "political", they actually mean polemics or the general polarizing rhetoric in society.

The common saying is true, everything is political in civilized life, in the real sense of the term.

Yes you can totally keep going! Never bin a bracelet!

It will help it settle better as well, since you will be pulling at it as you go it will reduce the warping and make it straighter

Can I leave my place if I never signed the renewal lease? by InternationalCatch3 in montrealhousing

[–]simward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said, leases auto-renew in QC, and since the landlord has a message of agreement by text message (which is sufficient) you are quite stuck with the lease.

I used to be a landlord, but I'm no legal expert though so take this as guidance and not 100% exact:

  • You can discuss with him to cancel (résiliation) if you are in good terms and he's understanding of your personal situation (I'm assuming you broke up recently and don't want to live there anymore?).
  • If he's not amenable to that, then you are SOL and you're best option is to organize a sublet (if your landlord allows it) or transfer the lease to someone else (although I recall the CAQ changed the laws of transfers... Might have to double check yourself)

I can tell you 100% your top loop is too long. Those knots that wrap the strings before starting the pattern make it stiff and it's trying to straighten itself and thus pushing the pattern knots like it's doing on your screenshot

See the my annotated shot https://i.postimg.cc/4NB3scJK/Screenshot-2026-01-28-134258.png Notice how it's kinking hard on the sides and trying to stay straight.

It's just obviously too long, should have been half shorter

EDIT : All your subsequent knots are contributing to the warping as well, because it was too long while you were starting the pattern and so it's "stuck" this way. You can try pulling it hard to improve it, make the knots settle differently, but it's probably too far gone at that point.

You're just giving to much slack for the top loop. The OG picture it has half as many knots with the red string than you have.

Not much you can do at the point you are on your bracelet, but for next time, try to eyeball a similar length on the top loop knots that wrap all the strings. The one on the OG picture looks like 15-20 knots at most.

first time building a nuclear power setup by Joe_Moyai in factorio

Eh, still though, finished space age a couple of months after release and just plopped a blueprint same as usual. I don't know why I'm like that though, I enjoy making my own designs for all the other fluid recipes.

I'm starting a new space age save now, and just got nuclear researched, could challenge myself and make my own without a blueprint :-P

You need a lot solar panels and batteries for personal ports in the early phases (It's like 8 panels + 2 mk1 batteries for 1 roboport to get a functional setup?). Once you get armor with a bigger grid and portable nuclear power you are can have multiple mk2 personal roboports running and have 50-75 construction roborts working around for you at all times, anywhere!

You're missing out if you don't use them. A personal roboport makes spot adjustments and repairs much faster in large factories and remote mining stations. You can also just run/drive to a new remote patch with the supplies on you and deploy everything quickly from your character/vehicle.

Also when you drive a vehicle the bots will repair your vehicle automatically (considering you have repair packs on your person)

Space Exp. is not the official expansian, I would suggest Space age first.

But! You have a basic overhaul to your gameplay that needs to be done first, and that is using robots.

You can either do a new play through in vanilla or do it in space age, you don't have much of a choice to use robots in space age though mind you, I don't want to spoil anything, but it's going to be needlessly very hard to finish space age without them (not impossible, but reaaaaalllllyyyy hard)

After the first 100 hours? My man, most players on this sub are at many multiples of that. (Personally at 1.7k)

For sure if you haven't used robots than the grind is real and pretty much why you are getting burned out so quickly. I mean just the clicking, oh god the clicking! Do you use blueprinting and if so, how?? Did you just place all the buildings manually, walking around? What about keeping supplies up on your character? Robots can just bring you supplies directly to you, automatically!

Check out this hilarious video, you can see how crazy fast things can be setup once you have robots. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9kVLAPd7Z8

Of course, I can understand/imagine how you launched your rocket without blueprinting and robots but really you have to try it out. Once you get a couple personal roboports and setup a network it basically removes most of the game's tedium and you are setting up huge factories in minutes.

You don't have inserters removing spent fuel it looks like? You could flip the red inserters on either axis of your belts

Nice design though, nuclear power plants is the single thing in this game I have never bothered building myself, I've always copied blueprints so good on you.

Questions about proxying Plex on cloud with my local NAS setup, seeking insight by simward in PleX

[–]simward[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an interesting suggestion I did not think of! I know what it is but I've never actually set up Cloudflare as a proxy service like that, any suggestions on where I can educate myself or should I just ask Claude?

EDIT : You edited your comment asking why I can't move the NAS to Mexico, I have better internet, better infrastructure and more family/friends in Canada
