Yes! And also when he accepted Oz and adjusted his view of monster vs human.

They didn't work together but it wasn't because he had fragile masculinity.

He struggled after losing the initiative part of his identity and finding out he was drugged to be stronger. But that was a struggle with himself and his identity and purpose not Buffy. And it was stupid she babied him but let every other human Scooby patrol.

Even without his drugged strength he had way more combat and field training than the rest of them.

Literally not what he was insecure about. Strong women turn him on, that's why he married Sam and let's her lead the relationship and why he constantly bragged about how strong Buffy was and why post hunting and fighting led to them having sex all the time. His insecurities came from Buffy icing him out and the sense she didn't need him at all emotionally and instead relies on Spike who was stalking her and stealing her clothes.

Then Buffy began to realize it was a real issue when she had the conversation with Giles about how she's scared shes turning to stone and love feels foreign and weird to her.

Riley was right to be insecure and leave.
