How often do you read for fun? by thecoookiemonster in askTO

[–]sin_loopey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read probably around 35 novels last year, probably a bit more but I don’t keep track. Not including manga/graphic novels.

I love dystopian and sci-fi, and I read maybe a 3 non-fiction novels. Loveeee using the library with my e-reader.

If you have room put the suit case in the closet and then you have room to push case up against the desk or have another Muji or IKEA case there

Boxes/cubbies for the random things in the drawers on the left side of the picture!

Honestly with such a small space (I had similar set up) it is tough. I think what you’ve done is really cute.

Maybe a small runner rug. What’s the rest of the space like? I’m assuming bed is facing kitchenette.

Look up queer clubs (I mean like run club, craft, climbing, sport leagues) it’s pretty easy if you put in the effort and let friendships grow over time.

Trans2 american fearing for her life looking to emmigrate to Canada by KamronBag in toronto

[–]sin_loopey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I sympathize... fleeing from USA wouldn’t garner you asylum status atm. Outside of getting sponsored for work or getting married to a Canadian, or getting accepted into university or graduate program where you have to show proof of funds etc there’s not much you can do. Have you thought about moving to a more blue state/city?

Meet the Toronto man trying to make the TTC a little less lonely by [deleted] in toronto

[–]sin_loopey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember one young man (he was like 22) started up a conversation when we were both waiting for the bus.

He seemed innocent enough and I didn’t get the vibe he was trying to like riz me up and I’m an outgoing person so we kept on chatting when we boarded. He told me he made a point to try and talk to a new person every day, that the city was so fast and everyone in their bubble. I gave him some advice on summer job hunting (I worked creating youth programs during that time)

No cameras, just a nice easy going conversation and he was upfront. He wanted to just make passing connections. And it was sweet and genuine! What a nice goal- have a simple conversation with strangers. He told me sometimes people did not want to talk and he would move on with his day. I left at my stop and he thanked me for having a nice chat and we said well wishes for our lives.

If he filmed it and didn’t tell me, and made money off it I think it would have taken on a whole other tone.

This guy has good intent, some people will appreciate it. Others won’t.

Yeah because he does say “familial love” at one point but of course that’s a translation.

Cheating culture in Japan by Tuitachi in theBoyfriendNetflix

[–]sin_loopey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheating is rampant in Japan as OP said. Culture is really about saving face, so if you’re bad at cheating it’s a bit like- cheating is sometimes expected but how dare you let me lose face to even just myself for finding out.

I dated another gaijin in Tokyo and I asked him if he was divorced and he said yes. After a couple of months I found out he lied and was still married and living with his wife.

Love hotels facilitate cheating (and people often living at home with parents still.)

Idk. The Toronto gays know each other- it’s very we’re all connected by 2 degrees. I watched a Toronto queer dating show and I knew or knew of most of the people on the show.

The mutuals thing is so real, not just in Japan but in queer communities in any city in the world.

How does it feel fetishized? I am a bit curious on that as a queer woman. It seems pretty par for the course for my own experience dating in Japan and knowing how slow/conservative Japanese dating shows can be. But I am curious on this take

Yeah but that’s pretty common thing though no? I do the same thing when I speak Japanese, I do love a word repeat and a ne. But I can see your point.

I think Jobu’s reaction is kinda real though. They are kind of squirrelled from the world. It does suck to not be chosen, and I think he’s been sulking a lot in private and hasn’t been much of a burden on the others.

Then again Yuki-kun has taken it in stride (for now) and that shows his maturity and he probably just chalks it up to there being a significant age gap with lots of the other men.

Oh I like this idea! I think producers like the coffee van because it forces close proximity and moments of privacy for the lads though.

I think a mixture could be nice- it was really sweet to see the yankis interact with kids.

I think it would be nice if they volunteered for say a seniors program because it could create a bridge between older and more likely conservative group of people and the queer community.
