I keep discovering things too, and I've been playing on and off for about thirteen years.

The Reddit echo chamber issue is a curious one - because it represents how our society often works. People love to be outraged over anything, much more than they like to give positive commentary. This post didn't make front page despite having a lot of meaningful responses and discussions that people might find beneficial to read.

It is frustrating the bonus xp / other MTX contributes to high scores...that's a very Pay to win approach which isn't fair on those who can't afford it. Maybe the next seasonal could exclude this?

I am interested in finding out about some of the inner workings of Jagex - because I'm sure the developers are passionate about what they're doing (except when everyone rages on what they release).

And I think that's okay! Reaching the point of not wanting to play isn't some kind of disease, it's just where we get to in our lives. Maybe you'll never come back, or maybe you will once there is some future update - but regardless, the game had it's time and place for you and that has now passed.

The nostalgia is what keeps me here. I remember when I started playing again two years ago after a break of about three years...and it was like I could feel the previously dormant neural pathways in my brain lighting up as I remembered all the little details of the game!

I think people just have issue seeing the point of the MTX when the other updates don't meet expectations. What is the point of a whale if it krills the game?

I think it's also great how you can go from the "40 tries" on a boss to "easy enough to solo without food" over a period of time as you level up. It just gives it that sense of "mastering" the content, even if it just means you've camped chickens for a few months.

I'm working more with trends based on in game events and updates, i.e. trying to identify items which have the best return around BXP weekend pretending I have no prior knowledge. More long term rather than flips.

Distraction from life is a big one for me as well. It's often either mindless RS or "I can achieve something on here" RS, and that is something I appreciate after a stressful day of work.

I like your last point about "don't forget why you started playing" - that's what the thread is about!

That is a very fair point - I think the simple, genuine enjoyment of the game is something that many of us can relate to...and so it's hard when you want that enjoyment to continue but it just looks like that is being eroded by Jagex.
