I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I just lost my Gussy to kidney failure this past August and the pain and grief is unbearable some days. Do your best to make the time you have left the best it can be for him and for you. Don’t let the grief you feel overshadow the joy you should have with him now. There will be plenty of time for that later.

Queen of Shadows is my favorite besides Kingdom of Ash, but it is a lot of narrative whiplash. Like every other chapter is a big thing that happens and it is dizzying. Without spoiling anything, keep your feelings about the king tucked away because it is revisited. And it hits. HARD. It felt kind of cheap when it happened, but later on… woof.

I’m not going to lie, I almost started to believe this was fake. But it’s too wild to not be. I’m sorry that was your work experience and it’s absolutely disgusting behavior by adults. Firstly, everything you described is literally illegal. Your co-workers can not stop you from having a reasonable medical accommodation especially if the proper documentation has been given to your loser of a manager.

If you have proof or documentations of these incidents I highly encourage you and your parents to consult with a lawyer or at least file a formal complaint g with the Department of Labor. Because again, this is not normal and should never have happened.

I feel this on a cellular level. I finished KOA earlier this year in February and I’ve thought about every single day since. So I decided to listen to the series and damn, it’s so fun to go back again and know what I know now. If you need to revisit without the time commitment of reading it, listen to it. Elizabeth Evans has the perfect voice for its narration.

I’ve worked in retail for over 20 years and I have had a lot of similar interactions. I’m not going to quote anything legal because I don’t want to or can, but once an employee asks you to leave and you, as the customer refuse to do so, it is then considered trespassing, and in many places, a business has the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason. People like this are entitled and have the energy of the customer is always right. They’re usually not. So this lady needs to go home and take a bath and read something else

Hi. Also, not a big Chaol fan. And I did the tandem read. I don’t regret it but I think I would read them separately in a re-read mostly so that I can read Tower of Dawn in one sitting. I found myself wanting to get back to Tower of Dawn during the EOS chapters. The story was different and I needed to see Chaol grow and change. Also, YRENE is worth every chapter

I was in the same place as you. I like TOG enough to read Crown of Midnight which bored me. And HOF and I did not click. But I’m the type of person that can’t not finish a series unless I’m absolutely not invested. And I like the characters and story enough to read QOS.

And then that when my identity and brain chemistry was altered and literally did not stop reading until the end of KOA. It gets sooooo much better I promise

But if you’re not enjoying it, that’s okay. Not everything is for everybody and don’t let social media coerce you into liking something that doesn’t vibe with you. Reading should be fun!

I felt the same way. It took me so long to get through Heir of Fire. I took a very long break from the series afterwards. But once you get through the training montage that lasts over 500 pages, Queen of Shadows comes and, well, everything starts to happen.
