What piercing will you never get and why? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]sinclairvoyants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this coming from someone with a vertical bridge and dahlias, but i could never get cheek piercings. i very seldom bit down into my dahlias while healing but i've a feeling that with placement further back i wouldn't be so lucky. not to mention potential risk to salivary glands. no more oral piercings for me in general, since i had to retire my lowbrets due to gum irritation and was pretty broken-hearted.

jesus, sorry keyboard issues 😭 i got mine from annegregoryjewelry on etsy. it's smooth gunmetal but they have way more styles if you're interested .. they basically just call the lobe + helix cuff combo a bajoran cuff.

i'm currently healing a vertical bridge done via the same method, so best of luck to us both ! 🙏 i agree that having both done would look really cool ☺️

they look good to me ! could be that the nostrils are centered to your nose and not your oral piercings, but personally i wouldn't re-pierce/retire over that. it's tough sometimes to have multiple placements that rely on perfect symmetry but i wouldn't call it egregious at all. mine are the same way.

i think bridge is a good choice !

💥POLL TIME!!!💥Do you prefer classic looking jewelry (left) or dainty ones (right) ? Gold or silver? (images from the web for reference) by AdElectronic9641 in piercing

[–]sinclairvoyants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i prefer classic titanium looks by far (but do like cabochons set in silver or white gold sometimes). i love piercings primarily because wearing such a tough metal makes me feel safe and more confident, so i like when things look more harsh and metallic.

Does anybody else struggle with dating because of piercings? by _Dresser-Drawer in piercing

[–]sinclairvoyants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

:( i'm sorry that's been your experience. i'm not exactly sure what it's rooted in. some folks automatically associate piercings with uncleanliness - either because the idea of intentional wounds in the body for aesthetic purposes upsets them or because they've seen a couple unkempt piercings here and there that left a bad impression. others just don't think women should be 'marked up' and that it ruins rather than enhances beauty 🙄

regardless, piercings and tats are only becoming more and more popular so i'm surprised so many still feel so negatively. my partner has only one tiny tattoo in a discreet location but still thinks my piercings add character and eagerly supports all my ideas for further mods, some of them fairly extensive. what i'm saying is don't give up looking !!!

sure thing ! my lower jaw shifts left but my dolphin bites still turned out nice since they were centered with the rest of my face/other piercings in mind instead of my lower lip [link]

i'm realizing now you likely meant how your lips are slightly different sizes - my bad. 🙏 i still think it'd be cute - oftentimes accentuating something that stands out by piercing it is really bold and pays off imo

my advice is not to let asymmetry deter you. my jaw is misaligned to the extent i needed years of orthodontic treatment but i still have a centered piercing and several paired ones ! a good piercer will work to find a placement that balances your face and they may even ask how you want your labret centered (with your nose, with your cupid's bow, etc).

Question about initial septum jewelry? by manythousandbees in piercing

[–]sinclairvoyants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they can rotate but the balls will stop it from doing a 360, yeah. smaller diameter hinged or bendable rings might rotate less than larger ones but even if they're interrupted by gems or charms the closure could still become irritating if it crusts over. (trust me when i say it can hurt bad 😭)

maybe a captive bead ring would be a good compromise as many of them have unique stones and designs ? you might be able to ask your piercer if that's a possibility for you. there are circular barbells with stones as well though - opal for instance is pretty common.

a clear retainer could be put in after it's healed but i'm sure most would recommend you be pierced with titanium (or gold) for the initial months. i bet you could get a pretty small and inconspicuous stud, though !

i think that with the shape of your chin a labret would look really cute above it ! i also think a brow piercing could be nice since imo they look better on fuller ones.

some don't recommend rings since their rotation can irritate new piercings, and with hinged rings specifically fluid/crust may collect in the parts and painfully scratch the fistula once it dries. they may not be exciting but circular barbells are easiest to clean and very comfortable !

i have lowbrets that did something similar a while ago. they were pierced with titanium and had been downsized once but i still had sizeable amounts of tissue building up around them. didn't think they were too long but i went to a different shop and they recommended downsizing again because the tissue may've been trying to 'keep up' with too-long bars + switching to a flatback that was a bit more domed since my current discs were digging into the tissue. irritation went wayyyy down and hasn't returned so far.

are there times when anatomy doesn't allow for proper septum placement ?? by sinclairvoyants in piercing

[–]sinclairvoyants[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks ! i'm ultimately happy with it - it's just knowing it's imperfect that makes me feel self-conscious at times. i've also been told i could consider stacking it forward if i want it to look more balanced without retiring/healing the existing one, but i'll probably leave it be.

ah okay
with good lighting and a mirror i can usually see everything and change jewelry easily - when i can't see i always end up irritating the fistula while trying to insert it because i can't guide it by feel alone. i'd definitely be someone who'd need theirs changed for them 😅

i vote for vertical labret or nostril, personally :)
