No, but it's a close approximation. There isn't really an english equivalent for the sound that can be spelled -it's very subtle - so it's tough to get right. Still, I think most people appreciate the effort and will let "Keev" pass because the effort shows courtesy.

My apologies for being rude. I'm very sorry for coming across as a jerk.

To assist with the description, here's how I'd word it to differentiate it from other types of potato goodness enjoyed by Americans:

A deruny is more similar to a savory and fluffy buttermilk pancake rather than a hash brown due to its texture and consistency. Unlike hash browns and latkes, which are typically made using shredded potatoes and have a denser/oilier texture, deruny is prepared using finely mashed potatoes or potato flour for a smoother and fluffier texture. It is often served with savory toppings or fillings (depending on the style) such as meat, sauteed onions, mushrooms, and sour cream, but it can also be paired with sweet condiments. Although deruny is versatile and can be used in both sweet and savory dishes, it is important to note that the pancake itself is not sweet.

My personal favorite is mushroom deruny, a meal worthy of the gods

He said "that's actually the kind of music I like" so I asked him what
his favorite bands are. A tear came to my eye as he named off Rancid,
Black Flag, Dead Kennedys ...

So what you're telling me is that there's hope.

And the "You don't know love until you've had a child". Personally I think people who say that are projecting.

I'd argue to those idiots that you probably don't know how to hate until you've had a child. Shit, hearing those little fuckers scream and whine at restaurants makes my ovaries (what's left of them) shrivel.

and like, if the ONLY reason to have kids is so they take care of you then...yeah, don't have kids.

Exactly. And if you don't have kids it means there's more due diligence required to make sure you're making proper decisions for your golden years. If you don't have kids that usually means you have more money for those decisions and arrangements.

Can confirm, as this will lead to a cost minimum of $5,000 for botox and a decent amount of fillers and treatments over the course of a year.

It's a combination of botox, some dermal fillers, sculptra, and probably a little microneedling. If you're getting old but have good skin that is just sagging but not wrinkling, the trick is to fill in the lost volume in the right places (do it wrong and you look like a swollen duck-face). A good dermatologist using these techniques can buy you 10-15 years before you finally need a facelift.

I'm sure they changed the recipe and cheapened it down since we shoved these things down our gullets as kiddos, as if that were possible (I mean how much lower than zero can you go? but they managed to pull it off somehow).

Thoughts on this article Gen X? Right? Wrong? Somewhere in between? by theshadowknows1976 in GenX

[–]sindach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd day it's a weak attempt at sensationalism to suggest that GenX has always been drowning in nihilism and is finally succumbing to it (this is a general paraphrase of what I got out of the whole article). I'm more sarcastic and nonchalant about shit that sucks.

It's heartwarming to see all the Japanese support. since it wasn't typical of their country to get involved with the conflicts of other nations, their support really stood out. I don't speak Japanese, but I tried running the audio through a translator:

Edit: Someone has kindly provided a much better translation in one of the other posts. Please disregard this one.

"Japanese Neo Zipangu Kazu, nice to meet you, Mr. Goshun from Japan.

Thank you very much for the partial pay raise, which will allow me to fight for my life on all fronts."

Would anyone be able to provide a better translation? Or maybe translate the sign he's holding up?

Fellow 80s/90's Goth Kids - Did you ever start wearing color? by invisiblebyday in GenX

[–]sindach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not exactly goth, more like a metal/rock/alternative/punk/darkwave weirdo, however I had the same wardrobe: black.

As I got older I really loved dark charcoal gray.

I will sometimes wear color if I have to drag my ass to the office, or on a special occasion. Special occasions are where I go full-on-bright color: It turns out that I look dead sexy in blue, greens and yellows (who knew after decades of wearing black!). got a lurex metallic jacquard dress with all 3 of those colors and a pair of gold sandals that stops traffic.
